Red Wren Studios Full Description
Wedding photography & videography has always been special to me. I work at aproximately 40 weddings per year and enjoy every single one! Choosing the right suppliers for your big day can seem like a daunting task. In my opinion, photography is like art, subject to opinion, and there are hundreds of people technically qualified to take photos. I believe it's not at all about picking the best wedding photographer, it's about picking the right person for you. As a wedding photographer I offer non-intrusive wedding photography to capture your big day in a natural style. I always aim to capture a persons true character, making them feel as comfortable as possible. My preferred method is to give gentle guidance to couples but to ultimately let them be themselves in front of the camera. Not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera so I strive to make clients feel at ease during any photo session. I believe that when people can relax and be themselves, it naturally creates the best photographs. In my opinion, the only real posed wedding photos should be the group shots. Official group shots have always been a long standing tradition and I am always happy to set aside time to set these up. Pre-organised help from bridesmaids and/or groomsmen is always much appreciated on the day!

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Working at Stubton Hall when the Red Arrows flew over during the reception, leaving their iconic trails of smoke!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Creative, vibrant, relaxed, natural, exciting

What about your business are you most proud of?

I've gained a lot of self-confidence working in various areas of photography.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Pick suppliers that you know will make you feel at ease. I've seen too many suppliers that stress couples out on their day. Personally, I will always go out of my way to ensure I'm as unobtrusive as possible whilst working and considerate to guests and couples alike!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I love anything that's hand-made. I once worked at a wedding hosted at a social club, but it had been decorated incredibly!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Once a deposit has been paid I will send out a booking form. This will confirm what I am contracted to do on the day as well as give couples a chance to tell me what the schedule of the day will be and any bespoke needs they have. I am always happy to meet with couples prior to the day to discuss any needs, or even just to say hi!

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

A photograph somewhere private where they can have a moment to themselves. Often it's a few hours after the ceremony and first chance they get to be alone as a married couple.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

A groom wearing a pair of boxers gifted by his wife-to-be!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

A positive attitude! Fortunately I haven't worked many rainy weddings but the ones I have were never ruined as everyone maintained a positive vibe. It's hard to be miserable at a wedding afterall!

Describe how you got into photography.

I can remember playing with cameras as long as I've lived. I'm sure my parents would probably cringe at us using their film cameras as children. Alas, in later life I got my first DSLR as a teen, I'd mostly take photographs of landscapes, sunsets and our dog. Ever since, I am rarely without a camera and have never stopped seeking self-improvement!
