What is your most memorable wedding?
It was a military wedding at Van Dyk's Boutique Hotel in Derbyshire. The couple were just adorable and he got posted abroad shortly after. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when they said their vows, including mine.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Reportage, natural, contemporary, modern and artistic
What about your business are you most proud of?
Getting to know the couples I have the pleasure of working with.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Enjoy every minute. The day goes so quickly that you need to enjoy and absorb the build up to it. It's the most precious day of your life and one you will remember for ever.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
My favourite personal touch was a couple who had collated a photo of every guest, without them knowing. They placed the photos around the room, with a handwritten personal message, about how they knew that person/couple. It was amazing and some of the stories were heartwarming to say the least.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
My first ever question is, 'how did he/she propose?' For me, this is where the whole process starts. Two people coming together as one, and very often, the proposal is of somewhere of importance to the couple. The stories are tremendous and again, I rarely have dry eyes when they are sharing that with me. I then invite them over for cookies and a cuppa so we can discuss what 'they' want. I build them a quote and ask them to go away and have a think about it. If they want me, they know my address and phone number. I will NEVER chase them. I hate sales pitches with a passion. If they want to book - FAB! I will then work with them as closely as they want me to. I am always available via telephone, email or through my front door for advice, a sounding board, or simply for a chat. I would like to class myself as an extra friend. I always include a free engagement shoot, as it's important for me to get to know the couple so that I can reflect this through my lens. I want to represent who they are and what they like. We ALWAYS have fun.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A selfie with the photographers camera - I love the shots from these!!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
A horse trying to photo bomb a group shot :).
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Buy an umbrella. Lots of people think that rain spoils a wedding day. I can honestly say, we have created some of the most amazing shots in the rain.
Describe how you got into photography.
From an early age when my parents bought me a point and shoot with a 35mm film.
