A wedding at King's College Chapel, Cambridge. It's a pretty magical place!
natural, relaxed, timeless, spontaneous, documentary
I set up my business when my first child was born - not the easiest of times to do anything much really!
Photos are arguably the most valuable memento of the day itself - so do choose your photographer carefully :)
I photographed a wedding once where the couple had created a bespoke cocktail that contained all their combined favourite flavours, inspired from their first holiday... it was a really nice idea and the drink was delicious too :)
I always like to meet the couple (ideally in person, but Zoom calls are good too) to run through all aspects of the day in order to make sure we cover all the shots they want; I also have a form to provide me with all the contacts and details I'll need on the day to help with the organisation. It's also a great chance to meet each other, and to make the couple at ease with the photography (even if they are nervous or camera-shy!)
I like to capture the events as they unfold naturally (it's more about the emotions than having a specific shot) - but it's always great to have a great celebratory confetti shot!
I was asked to try and include the couple's beloved pug as part of the ceremony... it was easier said than done as the dog wasn't 'playing ball' but we got there in the end!
I personally think that a sudden downpour can result in some really fun photos of all the guests scrambling in their fancy clothes to get to shelter! So although it's important to preserve the nice clothes (and the cake!) I'd say just take it with a pinch of salt and have a laugh about it afterwards :)
I graduated with a degree in photography in 2003, and haver been working as a professional photographer ever since. I have a particular interested in street photography, which influences my style and can result in some quirky shots.
