About me
I’m Jonathan, and I’ve been photographing weddings since 2012. More than 150 couples later, I still love the parts nobody plans: the nervous laugh before the vows, the speech that goes off-script, the dance floor at 10pm. I have a degree in photography and spent years as an art teacher, so composition and light matter to me, but on the day I’d rather you forgot I was there. My style is documentary: relaxed, natural and unposed, with a few calm group shots so nobody’s left out. I’m a member of the BIPP, fully insured and Enhanced DBS checked.
Pre-wedding shoots
If the idea of being photographed makes you slightly uneasy, you’re in very good company, and a pre-wedding shoot is the best cure I know. It’s a relaxed hour or two somewhere that means something to you, with no pressure and no audience. You get comfortable in front of the camera, we get to know each other properly, and by your wedding day it all feels familiar rather than daunting. You’ll also come away with a lovely set of photographs of just the two of you, long before the day itself.
Destination weddings
I love to travel, and I’d be delighted to photograph your wedding wherever it’s happening. In 2025 I moved to South Wales and set up Newport Photo Company in Cwmbran, and I now cover Newport, Cardiff, Cwmbran and Swansea, along the M4 corridor into Bristol, Bath and Gloucester, and anywhere else in the UK. For weddings further afield, do get in touch. Travel is usually far more straightforward and affordable than couples expect, and I’ll always be upfront about costs.
What you’ll receive
A preview gallery arrives within 72 hours, so you don’t have to wait weeks to relive your day. Your full edited gallery follows within eight weeks, delivered as a private online gallery with full-resolution downloads and a personal print licence, so you can print, share and enjoy your photographs however you like.
I edit for longevity rather than trends: natural colour, honest skin tones, and no heavy filters that will look dated in five years. I’d far rather give you 400 photographs you’ll genuinely treasure than 1,200 you’ll never open.

"Yes, I hold public liability insurance and I'm happy to send the certificate to you or your venue."
What happens if your camera fails on the day?
"I shoot with two of everything — cameras, lenses and flashes — and every camera writes to two memory cards at once, so a single failure never risks your photos."
What happens if you're ill or can't make it?
"I have a network of trusted photographers who could step in, and I'd cover the arrangements."
Can we see a full wedding, not just the highlights?

How many photographs will we receive, and when?
"You'll get a preview gallery within 72 hours and your full edited gallery within 8 weeks."
Have you photographed at our venue before — and if not, what will you do?
"If I haven't, I'll visit beforehand or speak with the venue so I know the light and the layout before the day."
What's your approach on the day — how much will we notice you?
"You'll barely notice me. I hang back and document rather than direct — the only structured part of the day is a short window for family groups and around twenty unhurried minutes with the two of you, usually near sunset. Most couples tell me they'd forgotten I was there by the second hour."
What exactly is included, and what costs extra?
"Every package includes a pre-wedding planning call, an agreed family group shot list, full documentary coverage, a preview gallery within 72 hours, your full edited gallery within 8 weeks, high-resolution downloads and a personal print licence. Albums, extra hours and a second photographer are optional add-ons, always quoted upfront so there are no surprises."
What are the payment terms?
"A 25% deposit secures your date, with the balance due one month before the wedding."
Do we get the rights to use our own photographs?
Most photographers retain copyright (that's normal and fine), but you should have a clear personal print licence so you can print, share and use your own photos freely.
