What is your most memorable wedding?
Any wedding that's done with honesty and full of joy for whatever the couple wanted to do has always shone as being up there with my most memorable weddings. Where it's a big party, not about being centre stage, family and friends, good food.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, un-obtrusive, documentary, silly, unserious.
What about your business are you most proud of?
I've shot over 350 weddings since I started in 2010 and that number blows my mind. I love that my job is capturing other people in love.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Make it your own. Ignore the outside influences and do it your way.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Whenever a groom cries.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I like to chat about your day first either over coffee or over Zoom. On the day, I like to blend in with your guests and keep everything natural. I'm covert which allows me to capture people just enjoying themselves at your wedding. When it comes to group photos, I keep them quick and simple and it's the only time you'll see me get a bit more bossy. It's amazing how difficult it is to get a bunch of adults all looking in the same direction at the same time! And I won't drag you away from the party for ages either, I like you to get back and enjoy yourselves. After your wedding, I like to get your photos back in your hand within 28 days.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Just a single natural moment of you two together. These are always the ones our couples value the most over anything posed.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Either embrace it, or get snuggled up under cover. It either leads to fun photos of you acting like kids or intimate photos of cuddles.
Describe how you got into photography.
I studied photography for my undergraduate degree. Then I did an MA in Visual Arts, also with a photographic focus. And I'm currently doing a PhD in History of Art. So it's safe to say I like photography! I shot my first wedding when doing my undergraduate in Photography in Leeds. Since then, I just went straight into the industry with gusto and never looked back!
