Mike Thornton Photography Full Description
At Mike Thornton Photography, I shoot Cambridge, London, national and international weddings and have done so since 2007. I also have great experience photographing children, families and babies with full CRB clearance. I work from The StillVision Photography portrait studio 3 miles from Cambridge with excellent links to the A14 and M11. It is quite a unique one - using high end industry techniques I mimic natural light with studio strobes and shoot against hand painted canvas backdrops for a fashion influenced look that is both classic and very much in vogue. My wedding and portrait work has been nationally published in the UK, I have an IPA honourable mention and was a finalist in the 2014 Olympus wedding awards.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

My very first! The bride had a panic attack walking down the aisle and that's where she stopped! Everything had to be taken up the aisle to join her and that's where the ceremony took place. I'm amazed I ever shot another wedding after that.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Friendly, professional, quality, artistic, subtle

What about your business are you most proud of?

Being invited to shoot international weddings! I've been to Italy, Scotland, Hungary and even Zinbabwe!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

You get what you pay for and that's especially true for photography.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

After a few e-mails, we arrange to meet so that couples can see some printed albums and some full weddings I have shot from start to finish. After booking we will arrange a pre-wedding shoot to get to know each other a little better so that I'm not a stranger on the big day!

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

A bride and groom photo... daft question :)

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

A bride's wedding car was a bin lorry so obviously I needed to shoot Dad and bride in front of it!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Make sure your venue has a plan.

Describe how you got into photography.

I've was a passionate hobbyist for years and took the plunge in 2005 and shot my first wedding..... the rest is history!
