Based in Twickenham, Michael Maurer is a wedding photographer who specializes in capturing the genuine joy and emotion of your special day. Using a colourful, documentary-style approach, he creates a natural and beautiful record of your wedding as it unfolds. With a candid and unobtrusive presence, Michael blends seamlessly with your guests, photographing authentic moments—big and small—without directing or staging. This lets you relax and fully enjoy your celebration, confident that the true spirit of your day is being preserved.
Couples often describe Michael’s style as colourful and sharp, with a timeless quality that avoids passing trends. His editing ensures your photos will feel just as real and meaningful 50 years from now as they do on your wedding day. While his main focus is documentary storytelling, Michael also understands the importance of traditional group shots. He’s happy to arrange and capture formal portraits of you and your families. For your couple portraits, he offers gentle guidance during relaxed sessions, capturing intimate moments when the light is at its best.
Many couples feel uneasy being the center of attention, and Michael’s discreet style is perfect for those who are camera-shy. He works independently to capture a variety of angles and perspectives, so a second shooter is rarely needed. Past clients praise his warm, friendly, and calm presence—often saying he feels more like a guest than a photographer. From your first conversation to the delivery of your final images, Michael is committed to providing outstanding personal service and clear communication, so you always know what to expect.
As cheesy as it sounds, there isn't one! Every wedding has such a different and unique feeling to it, and that's memorable in itself! I could photograph at the same venue for the rest of my life, and I wouldn't get tired of my job because I love how different each couple is. It’s one of my favourite parts about this job.
Natural, unobtrusive, creative, happy and colourful.
My partner Eleanor! It's technically "just me", but she's always there to give me that little push when I need it the most. When I moved to the UK in 2016, she helped go full-time instead of pursuing a more traditional career.
Don't feel like you have to do something at your wedding just because everyone else has. It's your day, and there's no right or wrong - just YOU. Donuts instead of a cake and pizza for dinner - why not?!
Home-made honey jars as little gifts for all the guests.
We'll get together via Google Meet and get to know each other and talk about your wedding day. If you decide to book me we'll sign a contract and meet again about one month or so before the wedding date. Here we'll confirm all the little details and talk about your day. After all the pictures are edited you can expect to receive them no later than 6 weeks after the wedding date. I'll be here every step along the way to help with any questions you might have.
The one you don't know I'm taking! :-)
I love it when couples trust me to capture things exactly as they're happening
Embrace it!
I started out photographing music festivals in Puerto Rico in 2011
