What is your most memorable wedding?
My most memorable wedding is always my most recent. I get so caught up in the day and can't wait to upload the images as soon as I get home. I love re-living all the little moments and the story behind each image comes back to me. All the little looks, smiles and even tears bring back the emotions of the day.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, natural, lights & airy, candid.
What about your business are you most proud of?
I've been photographing weddings for ten years - that's over 250 first looks, first kisses, first dances and so much more! All the little moments of each and every wedding captured perfectly. I love making people happy and that's what my photographs do.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't get overwhelmed with all the 'extras' you see available for weddings. Stay true to yourselves and create your dream day with what really matters to you. Less is more!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
It's so lovely when the bride has a little keepsake with her from a family member who is no longer with her. I've seen Grandma's brooch pinned to the underskirts and Grandad's war medal attached to the bouquet. Small cameos with photos are popluar too.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I respond to enquiries with an email outlining my approach and prices. We can then arrange a call to chat a little more about your day. I love hearing all about your plans! A small deposit secures your date and you're all booked in! A month before the big day we'll have a meeting to run through all the details and timings in more detail. Then I'll see you on the big day!
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Relaxed photos of the couple looking at each other bring out so much more emotion than staring down the lens.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
The Red Arrows were at the Torbay Air Show on one couple's wedding day. They asked for a photo from the hotel rooftop terrace with the Red Arrows flying past. You know how fast they fly so it was quite a challenge but the resulting image ended up winning competitions!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Don't panic! There will be some pretty spots around your venue where we can still capture some gorgeous photos - maybe a cute window seat or a sweeping staircase. I always bring some large white umbrellas so we can venture outside if you're up for it. It rarely rains ALL day so there is usually a break from the rain where we can get outside. Be flexible - I have been known to interrupt dessert when the sun makes a sudden appearance!
Describe how you got into photography.
My photography started as a hobby and some friends asked me to photograph weddings, Christenings etc. I enjoyed it so much that I did some training and shadowed some professional photographers before setting up my own business. That was 10 years ago and the rest, as they say, is history!
