Based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, Meachen & Shorey Photography is led by two talented professionals, both named Paul. They specialize in telling your wedding day story through natural, artistic photos that truly reflect your unique celebration. Their documentary-style approach focuses on capturing genuine moments as they happen—whether it’s heartfelt greetings, joyful laughter, or those small, intimate details that make your day special. Their goal is to preserve your memories in a candid and authentic way you’ll treasure forever.
Every couple is different, and Meachen & Shorey understand that. They prioritize making you and your guests feel comfortable and at ease throughout the day. Couples often praise their friendly, humorous, and low-key presence—many say the photographers felt more like guests than professionals. This relaxed vibe helps capture natural emotions and interactions without anyone feeling self-conscious. If you’re a bit camera-shy, their ability to blend seamlessly into the background is a real advantage.
When you book Meachen & Shorey Photography, you get two lead photographers covering your entire wedding day. This means no moment goes unnoticed—from the excitement of morning preparations to the energy of the evening celebrations. Having two photographers allows them to capture different angles and simultaneous moments, creating a richer, more complete visual story of your wedding.
As an experienced and award-winning wedding photography team, Meachen & Shorey are passionate about creating timeless images you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
All of our weddings are memorable mainly because each wedding we do is different. Probably the one that sticks in the mind most, was our first one when we realised we could offer couples something different, something a bit more natural rather than the stereotypical cheesy posed shots.
Natural, creative, personable, attentive, unique.
That's a simple answer; the feedback from our previous customers. Likes on Facebook are nice, but we truly believe providing customer service is a very close second to providing emotive and powerful wedding images.
A lot of couples ask us what other people have done for certain aspects of their wedding. We always say it's your wedding, you should do what you want to do not what you think you should be doing because others have done it before. There is no right or wrong way to get married!
Recently at an Indian wedding the Groom Party had forgotten the Groom's wedding ring. We didn't even think twice about giving him one of ours to use for the day (It was a good job if fitted!). We are happy to go that extra mile.
We like to take time to get to know you and understand what kind of people you are. We want you to feel special about your big day, not treated just like ‘another’ couple getting married at ‘another’ venue. We’ll be there to help before, during and after your wedding day. We will also take time to meet with you to go through your plans in more detail and also walk round your venue(s) to understand the exciting plans you have for the day. Finally, we'll give you a call a few days before the big day to say hello and to calm any last minute nerves you may have.
We would never dream of imposing our views on what photograph a couple should take. We will shoot everything they request and also everything that goes on around them, including all the wedding details they've worked so hard to get right.
We are mostly asked just to take natural photos and couples seem to trust us, our style and our approach. We don't really do posed shots apart from some formal photographs which we understand many couples want. We much more focus on a documentary approach which couples seem to love seeing the results when we present back their story of their big day from start to finish.
Rain will not stop play. Like you, we keep an eye on the forecast the week up to the wedding as we want it to stay dry too. Even if it does rain, it’s very unlikely to rain continuously all day. We are flexible and prepared to make the most of the dry spells. We have bridal umbrellas and if needs be will go out in the rain and have some fun.
We both met on an advanced photography course many few years ago. We hit it off due to our passion for photography. We are both married and adore our respective families and we all spend a lot of time socialising together (which is mostly spent chasing after our children)!
