What is your most memorable wedding?

I would have to say my own wedding nearly 10 years ago, but I've found something special at every wedding I've been to whether as a guest, the photographer or even my first job working behind the bar, they're just a unique occasion that's impossible to replicate.

What about your business are you most proud of?

My interaction with clients as well as potential clients. The time leading up to a wedding and getting to know a couple and what they want from their big day is something that I take great pride in.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't be afraid to dream big on a small budget.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

At a small ceremony that I as shooting in Austria, the rings were passed around on a cushion for all the guests to say something to give the happy couple their love and blessings. It's not suitable for all weddings but was a very beautiful and touching interlude.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Starting with a free telephone consultation (before booking or paying deposits) to determine if I'll be the right fit for the couple. Once booked, I've got a list of questions that I ask all couples to get an idea of what they're looking for but will continue this process right up to the time of the wedding. I'm happy to arrange an 'engagement' or 'get to know you' shoot. This is great for couples who are a little camera shy, to get used to having a photographer buzzing around you. Then on the day, I'll be available for the agreed times and locations to document the day and help tell their story.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

That first quiet moment as a married couple. Away from the guests and the pressure of everyone watching. For a while at least you're out of the wedding bubble and back to the two people that matter the most.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

On my part, flexibility. If there's a gap in the showers, we can make the most of it! Big bright smiles and some white (or even customised) umbrellas.

Describe how you got into photography.

As a child, I was fascinated with photographs and my Dad had a really nice old Olympus SLR. He used to let me play around with it with expired film. After that I never really stopped taking photos. I love portrait and landscape photography and weddings are a wonderful opportunity to combine both.
