What is your most memorable wedding?
My most memorable wedding will always be my own at the wonderful Burgh Island Hotel.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Classic, Timeless, Creative, Elegant, Natural
What about your business are you most proud of?
I have a natural, documentary style and a warm, relaxed, approach which my clients love. I always love to hear how comfortable my clients are with me.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Allow some time together for yourselves. The day goes very quickly!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I've seen may things from firepits and tandem bikes, to a bride serving Guinness at her own outdoor pub! I was lucky enough to photograph a very personal outdoor wedding led by a family friend which was very touching.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
My packages start with an initial consultation. This is important so we get to know each other and I can find out about your day and what's important to you. After that I send a questionnaire covering about you, the venues, your plans and any important pictures. This helps me structure the day and plan ahead. Because I know things can change, once you are booked in, I am always available to answer questions and to give advice.
About a month before the wedding, we will get together to run through your plans and how the day will work so we can answer any questions.
On the day, I always like to arrive a little early to be ready. My work is about natural moments so I am always shooting! I normally take a break while you are having your Wedding Breakfast and then from the speeches through to the dancing I am there! I am a dancer myself and love the dance floor action!
After the day is over I will send you a sneak peek set of 10 photos within 7 days. Your collection will normally be ready within 6 - 8 weeks.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
I love taking couple portraits and I think it's really valuable to take a few minutes away and focus on getting some special images of just on the two of you.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
I worked with a couple who were bell ringers. They rang their own wedding bells!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Don't panic and embrace every part of your day. In my experience, venues will always be very supportive too but do try and plan ahead or have a plan B. As a photographer, it can be a challenge for the formal group photos for example, but there are opportunities too. I check ahead with the venues and carry transparent umbrellas for outdoors, and equipment for indoor photos.
Describe how you got into photography.
I've had a camera since I was six years old! I can't remember a time when I didn't take pictures!
