Matt Ebbage Photography Full Description
Hi, I'm Matt...and I have the best job in the world! I started shooting weddings in 2010 and I love having the opportunity and creative freedom to tell a wedding day story through emotion. I know it sounds super-cheesy, but I do see my job as being a storyteller and I really enjoy capturing a collection of images that really reflect my couples' personality. In my view, a wedding day shouldn't be condensed into a selection of posed and 'controlled' pictures, it should be a lovely, flowing account of all those spontaneous moments that happen throughout the day. Let's face it, those are the one's you're going to print and frame, and they're the one's that will make you smile for years to come. Right from my first wedding, I was very drawn to capturing those lovely candid moments of people and am always seeking out new and alternative ways to capture and display emotion and love. A wise man once said to me: Moment, Light & Composition - if you can get two out of three, you're doing good...if you get the trifecta, you've smashed it! Needless to say...I'm always striving for the full house.

Brilliantly inconspicuous

Matt was amazing. He was part of the party whilst taking photos without anyone even noticing. If the photos are as good as the teasers then we can’t wait to see them. Highly recommended.

If you are thinking of booking Matt or his lovely Wife and hair and make up artist Jess I highly recommend snapping them up! We booked their joint package and are so pleased we did. We are absolutely in love with all our photos from our wedding day and it was a pleasure to work with Matt from start to finish, he had an amazing eye for light and shapes but also had knack for making people feel at ease which in turn makes for beautiful photos! A truley wonderful photographer!

You truly captured every single moment of our day

What can we say! From start to finish, you gave us the most amazing service!! We were both so nervous and you completely put us at ease. It was amazing to have you as part of our day and it shows in the photos how much fun everyone had having their photos taken by you. You went above and beyond providing us the most amazing photos, far better than we ever imagined and now we can't stop looking at them! I want to do it all again. We are so unbelievably thankful and can't recommend you highly enough! You truly captured every single moment of our day! Can we do it again? Pretty please? x

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

At the time of writing, it's probably going to have to be one of the most recent weddings I shot, up at Woodhall Manor in Suffolk back in December '17. Clear blue sky, snow on the ground, amazing couple, lovely families, beautiful light, beautiful venue...heaven!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Documentary, Unposed, Photojournalism, Fun, Creative

What about your business are you most proud of?

Staying true to the way I want to shoot. I'm a photojournalist because I love capturing genuine moments between people and I love being able to shoot storytelling pictures that people will love for many years to come.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't stress! it all gets done - make your list(s), set up your spreadsheet(s) and make sure you're splitting the load, but don't get worked up. When it arrives, it really is an epic day...the planning should be just as much fun as the day itself. Trust yourselves and plan the day YOU want, not anyone else...and book suppliers you actually like and want to spend your day with. That way, you'll be more relaxed and everything will be smooth. I think that was my top 3 rather than my top tip, but hey, they're all relevant.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Great question. I'll have to come back to that one...

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Meet, chat over coffee and cake (or a Gin if we're meeting in the evening), have fun, explain my process, answer their questions. The most important thing is that there is a 'connection' between us. If we have fun and get along, we can have a load of fun on the day. Keeping things simple is my mantra

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

One that they'll be proud to show their Grandchildren. I'm not a fan of having 'lists of posed photos' (other than any formal group shots of course) so I tend to let my couples do their thing with their guests so I can capture lovely natural moments.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Same as the last one really. I don't generally get asked to shoot specific lists of pictures, people book me to document their day in a very natural way, so this kinda goes against the way I work.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Embrace it! There's no changing it, so embrace it and make the best of it. low light/night time portraits with some creative lighting and a bit of rain actually look pretty amazing, so I'm game if you are!

Describe how you got into photography.

Intrigue! My Father has always been into Photography, so I picked up one of his old cameras one weekend when I was home from University for a break and went out and shot some pictures. After going through the "I just want to shoot wildlife and work for Attenborough" phase, I started shooting pictures of people, and that REALLY got me hooked. The rest, as they say, is history...
