What is your most memorable wedding?
A traditional Sri Lankan ceremony in Dulwich Picture Gallery - what could have been a cultural clash resulted in the most beautiful unification of two families; top hats next to colourful sari's traditional drummers next to classic cars and ceremonial rice eating with an exchange of rings - it was a truly incredible day and I am honoured to have been involved.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Creative, Stylish, Iconic, Relaxed, Atmospheric
What about your business are you most proud of?
My work - i LOVE photography and I LOVE taking pictures. I am definately stronger at the creative side of this industry but am trying to become more business savy as I really hope to expand even more this year.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Plan as much or as little as you like in the build up but on the day just let it all flow - the greatest moments are imperfect and beautiful memories will be made whether you run on schedule or not.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
200 hand folded origami cats as favours.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Enquiries usually come through my website, I ask for some key details such as where and when the wedding will be taking place. I much prefer to provide bespoke quotes based on budget as every wedding is different but understand that some couples prefer not to share this upfront. Once an agreemebt has been reached I will issue a deposit for 20% of final cost - the date is reserved exclusively once this deposit clears. If a pre-meeting is required I will meet with the couple as and when suits to go through finer details, I also issue a qustionaire that helps me to plan my movements on the day, this is due two weeks before the wedding date. On the day I will be on hand to capture all the little details as well as the main events and happy to take additional requests if required. After the wedding day I will issue an invoice for remaining monies and set to work on editing. I usually get 2/3 sneak peeks out before the full set a maximum of 4 weeks after the wedding. If an album has been requested I will then liaise regarding which images are required and manage the production/delivery of that album.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Portraits together, away from guests if possible. It's just one day and capturing that emotion, that intimacy and that comfort with each other is a beautiful opportunity not to be missed in my opinion.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Get umberellas! Seriously though it depends on the couple - if they are happy to jump in the rain and get some gorgeous steamy shots I'm in! If they prefer to hover under trees or retreat to a comfy lounge I'm just as happy - its your day, you decide what and where and I'll follow and make it look awesome!
Describe how you got into photography.
I found an adandoned dark room at school in 1995, my art teacher helped set up all the developer trays etc and showed my how to use it. I was hooked.
