What is your most memorable wedding?
I can literally remember every single wedding I have photographed when looking at a few photos! This is why it is so important to choose the right photographer....because when I look at my photos I can remember the feeling in the room, or what was about to happen next, or even the small details such as the weather or the song that was playing at the time. Photographs aren't just beautiful pieces of artwork.....they are there to remind you of exactly how you felt at a particular moment in time, and that is something you can keep forever.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Contemporary, reportage, beautiful, candid and elegant.
What about your business are you most proud of?
I have over 150 independent 5 Star reviews which I am extremely proud of......this means I am making people happy because they love their photos!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Make a list, then a make another list, then make a list of your lists and then......Enjoy Every Second!!!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Homemade decorations are always beautiful....one bride had spent over a year making origami paper birds to hang in strings everywhere! Not only did they look beautiful, I just love the thought of Liz sitting in front of the TV of an evening, with her pile of paper, planning her wedding and folding her paper birds!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Most people like to meet at some point before the wedding, either via Zoom or in person, so that we can talk through timings and group photos etc. On the big day, I am very easy going and for most of the time you will not know I am with you. You can just enjoy your day and trust me to capture your beautiful day for you.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Everybody needs that one killer shot to have on their mantlepiece/ place on the wall at home. I often receive thank you cards from my lovely couples and they design the cards themselves with their favourite image(s). Some people go for the natural, reportage type photo, some people like a nice soft, romantic photo, some people go for a fun photo.......which is why it's so important for me to provide you with a variety of images, so that the choice is yours.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
The most original photos come from my ideas, as these are ones that I am envisaging whilst I am in the moment, however I don't mind recreating photos that other people ask me to take (such as forming love hearts, lying down, jumping in the air etc.)
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Aside from umbrellas and wellies obviously, every single couple has always had a fantastic time on their wedding day....regardless of the rain!! It's just weather, and we can't change it, so embrace it and enjoy every single second! Most of the important stuff happens inside anway, and I have some fabulous portable indoor lights so I can just capture everything indoors and when there's a break in the rain, we pop outside!
Describe how you got into photography.
I have always loved photography and was completely overwhelmed by the standard of work available when I was looking for a photographer myself, nearly 17 years ago. I always thought wedding photography was just a picture of a bride and groom outside a church, and then maybe 10 people standing in a line. How wrong could I be!!! I fell in love first with the style, and then with the possibility of literally being able to capture the emotions of the happiest day of a person's life. I then decided that this was something my brain and my personality could really be suited to. I did tons of research, bought a DSLR, went on training courses, then practiced at friend's weddings before advertising my services for free so that I could gain some real life experience. I was accredited by the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers and now, 15 years and 500 weddings later, here I am, still madly in love!
