Documentary wedding photography is all about capturing real moments as they happen. Rather than directing or posing much of the day, I focus on genuine emotions, interactions, and events, allowing your wedding story to unfold naturally through authentic photographs.

One of my most memorable weddings was at Pencoed House, where Amy and Ben celebrated their love. The indoor setting was beautifully decorated, creating an enchanting atmosphere that perfectly matched their personalities.

As they stood together, surrounded by family and friends, Amy and Ben exchanged heartfelt vows that brought tears of joy to many eyes. Amy looked stunning in her dress, and Ben's expression said it all—he was absolutely over the moon.

The reception was lively and filled with laughter. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal, followed by touching speeches that highlighted their journey together. The dance floor was packed, and the couple’s first dance was a magical moment that set the tone for the night.

Every detail, from the floral arrangements to the personalized touches, reflected their love story. It was a day filled with joy, love, and unforgettable memories, making it a truly remarkable celebration.

My approach is primarily documentary, but if you'd like, I can take you away for around 15 minutes for some relaxed portraits. There's no pressure, no complicated posing, and no lengthy photoshoot. It's simply a chance to spend a few quiet moments together while I create natural photographs of the two of you.

Every wedding is different, but you can typically expect several hundred carefully edited images that tell the complete story of your day. I never limit the number of photographs delivered if they help tell your story. I usually deliver between 600 to 800.

My number one wedding planning tip for couples is to prioritize open communication. Talk openly about your vision, budget, and expectations with each other and your vendors. This helps ensure everyone is on the same page, reduces stress, and makes the planning process more enjoyable. Remember, it’s your day, so keep focusing on what truly matters to both of you!

You'll receive a selection of preview images within 48 hours after your wedding, with your full gallery typically delivered between 6 to 8 weeks. I'll always keep you updated on delivery times. During peak wedding season delivery time can be a little longer, at around 8 to 12 weeks.

One of my favorite personal touches at a wedding was when a couple created a “memory table” featuring photos of loved ones who had passed away. It was a beautiful way to honor their presence and keep their memories alive during the celebration. Guests appreciated the heartfelt gesture, and it added a meaningful layer to the day, reminding everyone of the love that transcends time. It really brought a sense of warmth and connection to the occasion.

Most weddings are photographed by me alone, allowing me to work discreetly and blend into the day. For larger weddings or if additional coverage is required, a second photographer can be arranged.

As a candid, relaxed photographer, my typical process with a couple goes like this:

Initial Consultation: We start with a casual chat to get to know each other. I love hearing about your love story, wedding vision, and any specific moments you want to capture.

Pre-Wedding Meeting: We’ll have another meeting closer to the wedding day to discuss the timeline, key family members, and any must-have shots.

Engagement Session: I often suggest an engagement session to help you get comfortable in front of the camera. It’s a great way to capture your chemistry in a relaxed setting and helps us build rapport.

Wedding Day Coverage: On the big day, I’ll blend into the background, capturing genuine moments as they unfold. I focus on natural interactions, laughter, and emotions, ensuring you can enjoy your day without feeling posed.

Post-Production: After the wedding, I carefully curate and edit your images, highlighting the candid moments and details that tell your unique story.

Rain rarely affects great photographs. Some of the most memorable moments happen in unexpected weather. I'll work with the conditions and, if you'd like portraits, we'll find suitable locations indoors or make the most of the atmosphere outside.

Booking is simple. Once you've checked my availability and decided you'd like me to photograph your wedding, a signed contract and booking fee will secure your date.

You're not alone. Most couples tell me this before their wedding. The good news is that documentary photography doesn't require you to perform for the camera. I'll spend most of the day observing rather than directing, allowing you to relax, enjoy your wedding, and focus on each other rather than the photographs.
