Kim Burrows Photography Full Description
I tried to fit into the norm of weddings, but it just wasnt my style, instead I just did what I loved and I'm so lucky that my clients love it too. It was a little over 5 years ago when this hobby became a job, and I couldn’t be happier doing it. Photographing weddings is an absolute joy! I get to meet new people and experience beautiful moments whilst doing my favourite thing - taking photos. Never did I know starting out that my achievements would be featured in Brides Magazine and British Vogue, and then went on to be named as Zank You's top 11 wedding photographers in London, which is just incredible! People tend to come to me because they're interested in the new style of weddings which tend to be pretty laid back, candid, non-formal, non-cheesy and non-posey. That's me pretty much. I try and just follow you around capturing natural moments as they happen, and apparently, I'm quite good at it. I'm also told how nice it is to have me around on the morning of the wedding. I can be the calm in the room, I can explain to you exactly what is about to happen. I'm usually there fixing up Bridesmaids dresses and keeping flower girls busy whilst everyone gets ready. That's just who I am, a normal person that likes taking photos. I'm there to enjoy your day with you, and produce images that show just that.

So much fun!

Kim shot our friends wedding, and the results were fantastic. Every shot seems natural and not staged at all. Her ideas were fresh, resulting in a modern feel through the whole set. We'll certainly be booking her for our big day!

Couldn't of wished for more

Kim was a fantastic photographer, I am very camera shy and she managed to make me feel comfortable and even look beautiful. It was an intimate wedding as i wanted something a bit different, kims photography style fitted perfectly as i didnt want the standard formal overly organised photos. I now have the most amazing pictures to remember our very special day.

Captures the love in every photo.

We were so happy with our wedding photos and stunned how the happiness and love was captured in ever one. She caught every beautiful moment just how we remembered. We will treasure them forever. Kim made us all feel at ease and stress free the whole day, we couldnt have asked for a better photographer for our special day.

Steane wedding

I don’t even know how to put into words how much I love every single photo from Our wedding day. Kim was fantastic from start to finish! Professional, friendly and so talented in what she does! I dread having my photo taken but Kim managed to make it stress free! We didn’t have a videographer which in an ideal world we would have done but after receiving my photos back It now doesn’t bother me as Kim captured every moment and has given us the most amazing memories of our perfect day! Cannot recommend her enough she is amazing thank you so much xxxxxxx

A fabulous photographer to make the day even more fabulous :)

Kim was our photographer (our wedding gift from a friend) for our small Town Hall wedding in central London followed by a pub reception. To be honest, we didn't have a lot of expectation just because of the venues and it wasn't the BIG wedding. But she blew us away with her talent, ease, and unique editing style. We met her first for coffee which I loved because then we knew who to expect on that day and get on the same page with things. She knows what is she doing - asking about the specific photos we want, times of the day, who is the key person to talk to (besides the couple) - it made us feel like it wasn't something else we had to think about. Kim is very easy and fun to be around - sometimes you don't even know where she is! Then you see fabulous photos and it makes sense:). I love that she doesn't do the cheesy photos - all natural and candid. We could not have asked for better photos that captured our day perfectly - it has made it that much more special even for a simple wedding. Best wedding gift ever!

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

One of my earliest weddings was out in Italy, which was pretty memorable in itself. But I was very lucky to have gotten this gig. The couple were so lovely and made me part of their family. The entire day was set in a vineyard in the mountains, the views were exceptional. The brides preparation was in the castle, and later we all went for a walk around the local villages for the bridal shoot. An old local man stopped the bride, grasped both of her hands and sang in Italian to her, when I looked around her Dad was leaning against the wall with tears streaming down his face. It was beautiful.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

relaxed, candid, unique, natural, special

What about your business are you most proud of?

How far I have come. Something that started as a hobby has turned into a business and that's the type of dream I never thought I would reach. I think though, that my greatest achievement was when I got the call from Vogue to be featured.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Timelines! Make sure you get one off the venue and give it to your photographer, then let them do the work so you can relax.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I loved one wedding where instead of name cards for each person at the reception tables, they had a Polaroid photo of the guest. The head table all had their baby photos on theres.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

First up is a phone call or email chat to give the initial details, then a meetup so I can explain what I can do for you on the day, this gives you a chance to ask me anything you need to know. Later is a pre-consultation, this is a chance for us to go through the details of the day and for me to create a pencil timeline, I also give the couple a lot of advice here on anything they are unsure of (time of their first dance, cake cutting, speeches etc). Up to one month before the wedding another consultation, this can be at the venue if required, it's really to tie everything up we've spoken about before, also by this point we've got to know each other and you'll be a little more calm with me taking photos on your day so I'm not too much of a stranger. Following this is the big day, then within 6-8 weeks you will be sent a link to your online wedding album. From there we don't have to meet again, you can choose all your photos via the online album and I can post you prints/USB etc.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Confetti/sparklers! At no other point of the day do you get a better, happier and natural shot.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Most people don't usually ask for a specific photo, but the craziest one was having to climb a 60 foot ladder to get the shot that they wanted.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Pretty umbrellas, and don't be afraid, we can work around it.

Describe how you got into photography.

I lived in Australia and traveled a lot for 5 years, which was when the travel photos started, but I found the photos I took of the people were better than my landscapes. One couple I met just loved my photos and asked me to photograph their wedding. I never looked back.
