What is your most memorable wedding?
I recently shot the wedding of a childhood friend. It was lovely to be among so many familiar faces and to see people I've known for such a long time so happy.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, Candid, Relaxed, Happy, Friendly.
What about your business are you most proud of?
My recommendations and reviews. It's awesome to get a booking based on the positive comments of somebody else.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
It's your day, run it for yourselves, not for anybody else. If you want something, and it makes you happy, then go for it.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A paper wedding bouquet made from the pages of books the bride's favourite author Terry Pratchett.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I try to keep things as simple as possible. I'm here to make your day easier! The process can be what works best for you and is discussed in our first meeting.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Though I describe my style as mainly documentary photography, I highly recommend taking a little time for a couples portrait session at a time in the day that works for you. As well as getting some great photos, it gives you a little time to decompress and relax together before heading back to the party.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
The groom, best man and fathers of the bride and groom showing off their personalised and coordinated underpants!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Rainy days are no problem, in fact they create great opportunities! I always come with a couple of classic white umbrellas and lighting equipment for some awesome, dramatic shots.
Describe how you got into photography.
Photography and graphics have always been an interest for me. I spent the early years of my career as a graphic designer, learning the skills of composition and layout which are as important in photography as they are in design. I decided to learn a little more about photography and bought myself a camera which I used to for landscape and travel photography. I found reasonable success in this and started selling prints at local craft fairs and online. Off the back of this, people who liked my landscape work began to ask if I shot weddings and events. After a few weddings for family and friends, and some training courses, I now provide a fully insured and professional wedding photography service.
