Katie Mortimore Photography Full Description
If you want beautiful photos that capture the essence of your day I'm the photographer for you. I love capturing the raw natural emotions that you will experience on your day, whilst putting you at ease in front of the camera. I don't want to rigidly or heavily pose you, most of the time I don't even want you looking at the camera. I want to capture the unscripted moments and I want you to enjoy yourself. Keep an eye on me and you will likely find me shedding a tear during your speeches as I become captivated by your love story. If you're planning a relaxed country wedding I would love to hear from you. Barns, marquees and country houses I love the lot. Oh and if your horse or dog will be in attendance then OMG I'm in my own personal heaven!

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

So many amazing choices but a festival wedding which had the hysterical highlights of bride and bridemaids racing on space hoppers, before a massive tug of war then beer pong!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Real, romantic, relaxed, fun, creative

What about your business are you most proud of?

Happy clients! Nothing gives me the warm and fuzzies more than seeing my photos printed on the walls of my clients. When I'm asked back (for christenings and family photos) shows me the trust and confidence they have in my work.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Plan your day for you, not your guests. Don't feel like you must have an element because someone says so. All you need is yourselves and a registrar/priest/officiant everything (and everyone) else is optional.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Wellies! Yep wellington boots at the church door. Old, well worn and well-loved, but those wellies told you more about the couple than anything else that day.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I like to chat with all my couples first and foremost, often via zoom. We have to get on personality-wise in addition to them loving my work. We need to click for me to work at my best, and for a couple to be at their most relaxed so it's so important. we obviously discuss plans for the wedding, how I work and options for your day. Once a couple is ready to book I send over my booking details including my contract. Once booked I provide my couples with access to my client wedding guide full of hints and tips for planning their big day. Before the wedding, I have a questionnaire that covers all aspects of their day so I am fully prepared for their wedding. I use this as a base to discuss any time line changes that could be beneficial to the couple and plan the photography aspects. Next is the wedding itself hurrah lets party! After the wedding I deliver a sneak peek normally within 48 hours, before delivering the final gallery within 4-6 weeks of the wedding date. I also then provide the option to purchase prints, wall art, and albums if the couple is interested in hard copies of their photos. I am a firm believer that your journey and the service you experience from me should be excellent from start to finish. You are entrusting me with capturing your memories and I know how important that process is.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

This really does depend on the individual couple as to their preferences but for me the images I am always drawn to is a photo of just the couple facing each other looking into each others eyes. Because I capture natural moments this often happens at different points in the day but the results are amazing as I capture amazing smiles of pure happiness and the look of love and devotion in the eyes of the couple.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

I'm rarely giving shot lists from couples as my style is documentary. But a spontaneous request which is a favourite was photographing the couple and their jar of jelly fish sweets gifted by a guest. It represented how they met, via the website plenty of fish.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Umbrellas (don't worry I pack a white golfing one) and an attitude of yep it's not a problem. Prepare for rain and you won't be disappointed. Your dress is going to get dirty however hard you try for it not to, and most fabrics will cope fine with rain (check with your dress supplier). If you're happy to get a bit wet to enjoy the rain I can promise you the photos will likely look epic, and you will have fun lasting memories. If you don't want to get wet at all costs you just need to make sure you have a large enough venue to give you options and space.

Describe how you got into photography.

I have taken photographs since I was a child. First on disposable cameras, then film then an entry DSLR and onwards to now. I've always been creative and photography allows me so much freedom and creativity. I'm constantly training and developing learning new techniques as an artist should always look to advance their skills. Weddings eventually came naturally as I'm a hopeless romantic and so what better than to record a couple's ultimate love story?!
