Beautiful photos of our big day!

Josh did an incredible job capturing our wedding day. He made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, and able to have a laugh while also being professional. He took all of the photos that we had requested but also included lots of great candid ones too! The photos are really beautiful and I would highly recommend him!

I wouldn’t ever use anyone else. The best of the best.

If your looking for someone who makes photos come to life, look no further, josh is absolutely amazing at capturing the most special moments. I got married in October & from start to finish josh gave his all, early morning starts to capture all the getting ready, to even coming on a car journey middle of the Day to snap shots of us at the beach, to the end of the evening when he’s capturing all the funny funky dance moves that are always a pleasure to see! Haha. He doesn’t stop, but fits in like a guest. He’s brilliant with everyone, adults and children. I really wanted a videographer but my husband was against the idea, but I don’t even feel like I needed one after seeing the photos, they really do come alive, they are the most special moments & every detail is captured nothing is missed & every time I see the photos I smile. Thank you a million times over for the most magical photos. I’ve had many photos taken by josh, family shots, generation family shots, my little one riding his bike & the wedding, & he’s got a flare they are not a standard shot you always see, they are always different & extra special & the compliments I always receive for my photos I wouldn’t ever use anyone else. You really are the best of the best.

He really is the best at what he does.

I have always loved Josh's work and when we booked our wedding there was only ever one man I could trust for the job. Josh is so professional but yet he fitted in like he was a guest at our wedding too. He has brilliant people skills, he was so good with both adults and children, making everyone feel relaxed whilst capturing those special moments. (Also brilliant with our dog when we had a pre wedding shoot!) His photographs really told the story of our day and I will be forever grateful for him making sure he took the shots that were important to us. He also captured those natural moments that you don't want to forget about too! Also have to mention the amazing quality of our wedding album. It came hand delivered and was beautifully boxed. Josh pieced it together perfectly. He really is the best at what he does.

I attended at a wedding where Josh was photographer. He captured the wedding beautifully....like super rad. Ive not seen one picture that doesn’t look amazing. On a personal note, whilst at the wedding he snapped the most magnificent picture I own of me and my lads. He’s like a magician! Defo book this lad!

100% the right choice to choose Joshua Rhys

So Daniel Cooper and I had a vision of what we wanted our wedding photos to be like and knew it was going to be difficult for someone to fit the boot. Seeing these photos tonight has filled me with joy, emotions and happiness as it was 100% the right choice to choose Joshua Rhys Photography, anyone who attended our wedding seen how committed Joshua Rhys Cox & Nicole Machado were ensuring they had every little last detail by being with us from the moment we woke up to the moment my dancing feet had given up on me. I know they were both delighted to shoot/video our wedding and both his and Nicoles attention to detail has been second to none from the moment we booked them last year. We really cannot thank these two enough for bringing our vision to life and playing such a massive role in our day, these are photos we are going to cherish forever❤️ Not only did we find amazing photographers, but we really found friends in both of these amazing people.

Brings your ideas to life!

When it comes to photos, although I have no skill, I like to be the one taking the photos as I hate having my own taken! This was one of the original reasons for choosing Josh as a photographer, as I had known him a past life and felt that would be easier to deal with than a stranger. This previous connection also meant I quite often stalked the awe-inspiring photos he has taken across his career, and was confident that he would do our big day justice. However, I was not quite prepared for the unsurpassed hard work, energy, enjoyment, passion and skill Josh would bring to the day, not only for us the happy couple, but for everyone present. Josh's talent and sheer passion is evident when you share your vision for the day with him - he is on board immediately with suggestions and brings your ideas to life. On a practical level which is so important when planning a wedding, he is eager to communicate and responded to my (many) queries and requests rapidly and honestly. Josh arranged a face to face meeting with us both before the wedding, where not only did he take us through the process, help us to map out our day in detail, provide us with suggestions for shots and timings, but he also got a sense of us as a couple that really shows in how he worked with us on the day and in the photos he has given us. His professionalism showed in the fact that he staked out the venue, finding the best locations for shots in general and to match our particular theme of wedding. Josh came to my house on the morning of the wedding as I was getting ready with my bridesmaids. Straight away he settled my nerves and brought out the joy in the party. Josh had arranged for another exceptional photographer, Nicole, to be at my groom's house in the morning - where she was also capturing our memories and putting everyone at ease. The hard work from both of this team continued at the venue. My husband and I had both agreed that although we would have some obligatory posing and photos with the family, that we wanted the images taken to be natural and capture the spirit of the day. This is exactly what Josh achieved. Every photo seems to speak for itself, highlighting the laughs, smiles and tears of happiness. Josh also paid attention to detail, knowledgeably photographing all the little things that I had taken the time to make and arrange and I am so glad that I will get to remember these details forever because of the photos. Looking through the photos I have, I also get to experience the day from my guest's perspective. It was almost as if Josh was all places at all times, as not a single detail has been missed. When discussing the wedding with guests, each one has commented on Josh's consistent hard work and energy - he didn't leave until the very end of the night but was motivated the entire time. Everyone also fed back about his easygoing and affable personality, which definitely allows him to bring out the best in people. I personally can vouch for this, as not only was I enjoying being photographed throughout the day, but my normally reserved groom was even requesting photos. Thanks to his impressive photography and editing skills and knowledge, the photographs Josh has provided us have incomparable quality; they really are lovely to look at. But more than this, Josh has helped us treasure our wedding memories forever. I have yet to look through the photos without tearing up, and for this and the overall impact he had on our big day, I would recommend Josh to any couple looking for a photographer who will help to make their big day the best day of their lives.

Did so much for us, with very little direction!

Josh and Nicole were the most perfect people to photograph our special day. They made us and our guests feel relaxed and at ease. We're not posey people so their candid style was totally perfect. They did so much for us, with very little direction. Our photos were everything and we'll cherish them forever. Thank you both so much. ❤

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

My most memorable wedding was in Devon, UK. It was quirky, full of fun, colour and laughter. You can take a look at how amazing the day was here - http://www.joshuarhys.com/rob-and-kiera/wedding

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Natural, relaxed, fun, easygoing, artistic.

What about your business are you most proud of?

To have organically grown a wedding business whilst being an assistant manager to the leading portraiture studio in the U.K - Venture Studios

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

I’d never want to convince anyone to choose me for their wedding - I’d rather that be your decision, so I won’t oversell here - but my advice to you would be to think about what the most important factors are to you. If it was me - I’d want a photographer with an artistic vision, but also just as equally important to be down to earth, easy going in nature, fun, and to be able to get on with my guests - making the day flow how you’d want it, keeping it natural and most of all enjoyable. I’d be tricky with planning for a photographer because I’m not an overly posey person - I’d want the couple shots, but also shots of my guests enjoying the day and the little details to get a full story of the day to pass down the generations. I’d also want to make sure my wedding photographer has full wedding stories on their website from each wedding they shoot - this would prove to me they work super hard on the day, capturing little details that are super important and not just selling themselves on a few pretty shots they’ve obtained over a ten year career. A big thing to also note, is that some people take great images but aren’t the greatest with people. I know brides that have been with photographers who are either awkward or let their ego’s take over the day. Neither of those things would be good - you want someone to be able to converse with guests and make them laugh and smile, because that’s a big part of your day too. Remember it’s your day, not the photographers - I’ve personally spoken to brides who have booked people based on just their images and regretted it afterwards as their personality wasn’t up to the bill. A sense of humour is super important. Factor that in. Don’t undercut either, I did get tagged in a post ‘can anyone recommend any cheap and reliable wedding photographers?’ I replied, which one do you want? Cause you can’t have both lol. You honestly get what you pay for in this field. It’s the one thing I’d never undercut, because the only thing that actually lasts after the day to tell the story about everything else. Also remember that the photographer you choose will end up being closer to you than most people on the day and its important you get along - so if you’re unsure on how you’ll get on I’d recommend to just meet up! That’s why I usually meet up before a deposit is even paid. You don’t want to spend a solid 16 hours with someone you don’t like and the same goes the other way around. - http://www.joshuarhys.com/clients Love the way I started that by saying I didn’t want to oversell myself, but ended up writing a novel there.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

A full scale dodgem court for the wedding guests at the Milky Way Adventure Park in North Devon - that was truly epic, you can see some images here - http://www.joshuarhys.com/rob-and-kiera/wedding

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Instant report, fun and easy communication, a seamless process between us which will result in some of the most beautiful moments you'll ever have.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

One with those closest to you that you'll look back on in 30 years and get all emotional, which to me should include grandparents and family.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

I wasn't asked to take this one, but I did capture a shot of an elderly couple eating ice-cream while my beautiful couple walked with their newly walking child down penarth pier. Cornettos and stilettos, I'm proud of this one - https://www.facebook.com/joshuarhysphotography/photos/a.1641689649300333/1641691349300163/?type=3&theater

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

An umbrella.

Describe how you got into photography.

I used my grandfathers old film camera from extremely young. I used to make stop start motion with it. I then discovered a manual film camera, and enjoyed the process of the darkroom in college. From the moment I started using the chemical process I was hooked and continued into further education, graduating from university with a 2.1 focusing on several social documentary projects. My ability to adapt with people of different backgrounds and ages and also to use the technical aspects of photography have led me down this path quite naturally. I love to make people laugh, and love photography, and thankfully weddings offer the opportunity for me to capture the perfect blend of the two.
