Based in Derby, Jess Irwin Photography specializes in creating timeless, romantic wedding photos that truly tell your story. Jess focuses on documentary-style photography, capturing the real, unscripted moments of your day—from joyful laughter and happy tears to those quiet, meaningful glances that often go unnoticed.
Your wedding day is about celebrating your love, not posing for a photoshoot. Jess blends seamlessly into the background for most of the day, capturing your wedding as it naturally unfolds. She works to make you feel comfortable and at ease, so your photos reflect your true personalities and connection.
While Jess offers gentle guidance during key moments like couple portraits and family photos, her main focus is on candid, emotional images that tell your unique story.
A lifelong Derby resident, Jess has been passionately photographing weddings for over three years. She holds a First Class Honours degree in Professional and Applied Photography from the University of Derby. Jess’s work is known for its timeless quality, often featuring elegant black and white images. She especially loves capturing couples during the golden hour—the magical light just before sunset—and will happily take a few moments to create breathtaking portraits during this special time.
Probably the first wedding I ever got to photograph! Back in 2019 I second shot for the first time in Ireland, I had no idea what I was doing if I'm being honest, there were over 300 guests. I had so much fun and it made me realise how much I wanted to be a wedding photographer!
Romantic, intimate, authentic, joyful & timeless
Being able to photograph and get to know the most beautiful human beings in the world! I wouldn't change it for anything.
Have fun - your wedding day is all about you. Do it your way!
I photographed a wedding last October where the Bride and Groom made their own name places - each with the guests name and video game character lasered onto it. So much love and time must have gone into this!
Couples portraits!
Clear umbrellas (or brave it - I'm up for it if you are!)
I studied it at GCSE & also at University (graduating with a first class honours!) Photography has always been a huge part of my life, its incredible to now turn that hobby into my job!
