What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Chat - talk about your plans and ideas, as well as any questions. As a natural photographer I don't plan shots so having an idea of the type of day you'll be having helps me to envision your wedding and get excited about all the possibilities. If you have concerns or you're camera-shy tell me - it's not uncommon and there are things we can do to make you feel more relaxed in front of our cameras.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I love to see weddings where the couple fill their day with things they love and scratch all the other traditions - choosing to have music played by family members and friends is a great personal touch.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I chat about a couple's wedding plans, get a strong sense of the type of day they'll be having, then visit the venue/s ahead of their wedding to plan. On the wedding day itself I work alongside everyone but don't intervene - your day is yours to enjoy, I don't dictate how it goes.
What is the No.1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Couple's shoot - 10 minutes alone after you're married to wander away from your guests and have some time alone. They're always beautiful photographs
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
We approach every wedding with individuality - we don't plan shots or reuse ideas, we come to each wedding with fresh eyes and capture all the personality that you both bring to your day and everything that is precious to you two
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Don't let it dampen your spirits. Enjoy being indoors and relax, we'll keep an eye on the weather and catch a break in the rain to take photographs outside
Describe how you got into photography.
While studying for my fine art degree I began photographing as a theatre photographer. I loved it but craved personal connection. After leaving everything behind to travel around Canada, I was able to see where I needed to be. When I returned I began photographing weddings and knew I had found my home. I find capturing weddings emotional and hugely fulfilling. I look to go above and beyond for my couples because I'm incredibly lucky to be able to do what I love for my work, I enjoy sharing that joy!
