FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

My first wedding in November 1987. I was nervous, it was raining and it was cold. Plus there was no such thing as digital cameras in those days, as we used film. I needn't have worried though, because it was a superb day, it couldn't have gone any better and the pictures were great.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Discreet. Professional. Experienced. Stylish. Colourful.

What about your business are you most proud of?

My pictures.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Dont let the little things get in the way of a good day. Just suck it all it and enjoy the day.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

When the daughter of the groom sang a song during the ceremony. A song that she'd composed and written herself.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

You get in touch, I send you my price guide, we meet, we go away and then if you want to book you let me know. I email you my quote and contract, you sign and pay a deposit, paying the outstanding fee before the wedding. After the wedding I edit your pictures and post them to you two to three weeks after the wedding, as well as opening an online gallery. if you want an album, you can order one before or after the wedding. Its up to you.

What is the No.1 photo that you think every couple should take?

One picture of the couple that defines the wedding day. It could be the first kiss, that picture of the couple with some stunning scenery behind them, or that picture of the first dance together.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

The bride was sure that the groom would cry as she walked down the aisle - and she wanted that picture. The groom did cry and the bride got her picture...!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

I always take two umbrellas (for just-incase) but its always wise to talk to the venue abut a spare room just incase. I'm used to it living in Scotland so i always have a plan-B ready just incase it rains. I've worked in most venues through Scotland so I usually have an idea what my plan-B will be.

Describe how you got into photography.

I started taking pictures when I was travelling in the late 1970’s, and this became an obsession so I went back to the classroom and in 1983 I became a fully training and qualified photographer and started working in commercial photography. In 1986 I became an Associate of the British Institute of Professional Photography, and in 1987 I photographed my first wedding - and then all of a sudden, my obsession had become a career.

I loved shooting the wedding because it was so different to what I was doing in my normal job - and whenever I could tried to keep on shooting weddings. And this is where I am today - photographing the loveliest of people in the loveliest of venues across Scotland.
