Based in the heart of Penrith, Cumbria, Helena Charlotte Photography specializes in capturing weddings with a warm, relaxed, and authentic approach. The focus is on the real emotions and fleeting moments that make your day uniquely yours. If you want your wedding photos to reflect genuine laughter, love, and connection—without feeling staged or forced—you’ve found the right photographer.
Your wedding day is all about you and the people who matter most. Helena’s documentary-style photography captures the true smiles, happy tears, and spontaneous interactions that tell your story naturally. Instead of stiff, formal group shots, expect portraits that highlight your personalities and relationships. The goal is to blend seamlessly into your day, so you can enjoy every moment without distraction.
Helena believes your wedding photos should be a lasting reflection of your love story. One happy couple described their images as “like watching my favourite movie in slow motion—every moment captured perfectly.” Many of these moments were caught without them even noticing the photographer was there. This unobtrusive style creates a natural, flawless gallery that truly celebrates you and your loved ones.

I've had some really thoughtful reviews from couples in the past saying how I had put them as ease with the photography and the general runnings of the day. Fixing dresses, doing bridesmaids hair last minute and climbing trees for photos are some of my highlights from couples.
I would love to say my number one tip would be to remind you that you're marrying the person you love, but I've had so many couples tell me they weren't prepared for the next days hangover which makes my top tip to drink lots of water and don't skip out on any food!
It was at a very home made reception in the Lake District and they had potted herbs as the centre pieces with notes saying which meal they would compliment that the guests were having. These were dotted between garden flowers and for such a simple decoration it really stuck in my head.
The almost kiss! It sounds strange, usually the look a couple give each other just before they kiss is so loving! I think it's a powerful photo to cherish.
One of the bridesmaids drove to the venue is a open top beetle and the bride was adamant that her and the 8 bridesmaids will get in it for a photo. They did and it was great!
Embrace it! I'll bring the umbrellas.
My dad has always been interested in photography so i've grown up with cameras and taking photos. I got my first camera when I was 3 and since has been known for always taking photos of my friends, no matter the occasion. The day I realised that this wasn't just a trait and could actually form a career I was ecstatic and have worked hard ever since.
