Helen Baly Photography Full Description
Hello ! I am situated on the border of Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales, just around the corner from one of England's finest venues, Iscoyd Park. I have been photographing weddings since 2001 and absolutely love my work, especially photographing weddings ! I am often complimented on my natural style and on being unobtrusive yet capturing everything from one of the most exciting days in peoples' lives. I really enjoy meeting up with brides and grooms before their wedding day and talking through their plans in detail, it's so important to get to know you and for you to feel comfortable with me too. After your wedding, you will receive a full gallery of over 1000 images from your day, all copyright free. I take unlimited photographs during a wedding and I firmly believe that you should receive as many of those images as possible. I will work very closely with you afterwards to produce a stunning album and I can also offer you prints, canvas prints and thank you cards. Couples are very welcome to come and see me, view my albums and join me for a coffee or maybe a glass of wine ?! I love to talk weddings and I would love to hear your plans. Best wishes, Helen

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Oooooh, so many ! Perhaps the wonderful wedding I photographed last year on a hill overlooking Shropshire and views into deepest Wales. It was a humanist ceremony, the bride was barefoot and wore a stunning flower crown. They married under a knarly old Oak tree and the guests sat on straw bales in the sunshine. I've never seen so much confetti ! The groomsmen wore tweed waistcoats, had feathers and forest foliage in their button holes and were so much fun. As the evening sun bathed everything in deep gold they partied the night away under the stars and it was just goooooorrrrrgous !

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Natural. Fun. Elegant. Classic. Beautiful.

What about your business are you most proud of?

Everything really, it's taken 18 years to grow and shape and it's still doing so but probably that I am now receiving recommendations from recommendations which is such a compliment !

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Make sure that every decision is a decision you are 100% happy with and it will all come together on the day !

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

The elderly couple who were really keen dancers who danced down the aisle after getting married to 'bring me sunshine' !

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I feel it is essential to meet up before a wedding to talk through all the details of the day. Very often this throws up vital additions and sometimes things which may have been forgotten or not thought of. I love to know a couple's family trees so that I am fully aware of who is who so there's no chance of missing an essential photo. It's good to plan our 'private couple shots' for a bit of time out during the reception and know what people do and don't like too. This way I can work closely with a couple and also ensure they are comfortable with me on the day. After the wedding I normally hope to present their pictures to them via a full online, private web gallery within about 3 to 4 weeks. After this we can have fun planning the album together, making prints, thank you cards and anything else required.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

There are too many to just give you one !

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

A bride on her horse mid wedding reception !

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Brollies, alternative footwear and a smile ! Rainy days can often produce the most amazing photos. The light is better and softer, brollies can greatly add to a fun scene and a couple in love, in the rain, having fun is just fabulous !

Describe how you got into photography.

A persistent love of photography plus I'm an ex art student having studied at Art College in London. After many interesting jobs I took an evening course in photography, on the second week the teacher invited me to become his apprentice for weddings, I did this for a year and a half and never looked back !
