What is your most memorable wedding?
Many are memorable, either for the location, an event, or for the strong sense of togetherness and love I feel between some couples.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, candid, traditional, contemporary, professional
What about your business are you most proud of?
Couples love my work and thank me for being so good on the day, not just with the photos, but how I go about things.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Meet your photographer! And look at albums of complete weddings. Ask them if they shoot Raw (these provide higher quality jpeg images, but must be edited by an experienced person).
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
During the signing of the register, a couple sang a song from Phantom of the Opera, at the front of the church, without any accompaniment. They were fabulous and I later learned that they were both in Phantom.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We would normally meet when you are looking for a photographer and we would spend some time looking at photos and discussing the wedding and the couples requirements. Once booked, the couple would then contact me at their convenience to arrange their pre-wedding photo shoot. After the shoot we would have a detailed discussion of photos on the day and I would take notes. The couple can also email me at any time to add photos they've just thought of. After the wedding, I usually work on editing the photos straight away and have the photos ready within a week, often within a few days. This disk is then supplied to the couple, by post.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
There are so many photos that I think every couple should take and many of these are the obvious ones.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
I have been asked to include the bride and grooms walking boots, as walking is a big part of their lives, and that is how they met.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Make sure you have a good, experienced photographer! Seriously. I would also say, that while everyone wants good weather, don't stress if it rains...it's still your wedding day and if you have a good photographer, you will still have some lovely photos.
Describe how you got into photography.
I've been taking pictures since age 11. I remember a school trip to Germany and I had a Kodak Instamatic camera. In my teens, I took over my family bathroom and converted it to a darkroom and processed and printed black and white film. I got into wedding photography by joining a local studio and photographing weddings for them. I benefitted by excellent training by good photographers, which is something most photographers these days don't seem to get.
