What is your most memorable wedding?
My own :) The most memorable wedding I have photographed is impossible to pick. I have fond memories of many; a trip to Jersey and its perfect weather, being the photographer at a friend's wedding, the new bride and groom dancing as they left the church and in early 2023 we will be travelling to Tuscany for a wedding. I'll let you know how that goes.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
relaxed, natural, creative, artistic and traditional
What about your business are you most proud of?
Our collective experience and knowledge.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Research and planning are crucial but do not overdo them. You can easily cripple your ability to make a decision by overwhelming yourself with research. Then on your wedding day, relax and flow with the natural movement of the day.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
The bride's brother surprised her by flying across the world to play the bagpipes at his sister's wedding after letting her believe he could manage.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We discuss details by phone or email before arranging to meet up. The photography wishes are discussed in detail at this meeting, and we bring a sample album for the couple to see and appraise. On the day, both Tom and Martin will arrive at the preparation stage - usually, this means us going to separate locations. Then we meet at the venue and photograph the wedding from two angles.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
The group photo. This image, more than any other, is what future generations will most scrutinise.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
A venue with well-lit and picturesque interior spaces. Failing that, wellies, umbrellas and a sense of humour.
Describe how you got into photography.
It started in my teens; a long long time ago. I was gifted a fully manual film camera and when I learned how to use it, I was hooked for life.
