What is your most memorable wedding?
They are all memorable for being amazing in different ways there's always something I love about each one.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Creative, artistic, fun, natural, storytelling.
What about your business are you most proud of?
Creating gorgeous images, telling people's stories; capturing all the love, laughter and tears, that will last people a lifetime, and bring back all the memories and emotions every time they look at them.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Make sure you get on with your photographer as they will be with you all day, so if it's someone you really get on with that will make your day much more fun.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Wedding Bingo. Done at a really fabulous wedding I did recently. Each guest had a questionnaire on the table, and they were encouraged to get up and go around other tables, between courses, asking the questions and ticking off when they found out who was "boarded by pirates on a sailing trip", who "has a degree in Astro Physics" etc, when they had completed all the answers they shouted out bingo, and were given a badge from the groom. It was the most amazing way for guests to mix, talk to each other, and get to know each other, as well as so much fun! It was fantastic to photograph as everyone was chatting and laughing and moving around the room instead of just sitting at the tables. So cool.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I always get to know my couples before the day, so that it is more like having a friend with you on your amazing day, rather than a stranger. That's one of the reasons I offer a complimentary pre-shoot to all my clients booking a full day option.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
For me there is no one photo. It's about storytelling, capturing all the amazing moments the make up your day. But I would say that going out in the golden hour, if there is one, for your couple shoot is definitely something you should do, as you'll get gorgeous photographs with the most beautiful light.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Usually the original photo is my idea!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
I absolutely love using a venue's interior. You can be really creative with light and use windows to create stunning images. You can also have a lot of fun with bespoke umbrellas, and if you don't mind getting wet, dance in the rain.
Describe how you got into photography.
I picked up my first camera as a child and have been shooting pictures ever since. I have an MA and undergraduate degree in documentary photography and photojournalism, and I have been photographing weddings since I was at university, so for over 15 years now, and I have loved every minute of it. Well, almost every minute. When I am not snapping fantastic nuptials I work as a documentary photographer and photojournalist, covering stories in India, Afghanistan, and Kashmir, as well as the UK.
