At GDJ Photography, capturing your wedding day is more than just taking pictures—it’s about telling your unique love story. Since 1972, starting with a single camera, this passion has grown into a professional career focused on wedding photography. What began as a joyful experience photographing a family wedding has blossomed into a lifelong commitment to preserving the special moments that make your day unforgettable.
My goal is simple: to capture the genuine emotions and excitement of your wedding in a way that feels natural and beautiful. With decades of experience evolving from film to digital photography, I blend candid moments with carefully composed portraits to create a timeless collection of images. Photography for me is not just a job—it’s a privilege and a source of joy, and that passion shines through in every photo I take.
Every wedding I photograph brings me the same excitement I felt when I first fell in love with photography. I look forward to bringing that enthusiasm and expertise to your celebration.
I am not self-centered, but my most memorable wedding was the one to my wife, Sharon, in 1998. Call me an old romantic, but it was an amazing day and we are still very much in love.
Relaxed, Happy, Friendly, Versatile and sometimes just a little bit Quirky.
Doing something that I love, and being able to share such a momentous occasion with so many people is awesome. I built my business from my passion for photography, and I love every single minute.
Do what makes you happy.
Firstly we meet for a coffee. This helps to find out if we get on as this is an important part of getting great photographs. If we are all happy to proceed then contracts are signed, and you pay the deposit for your photography.
If either, or both, of you are nervous in front of a camera then we can arrange some pre-wedding shoots to help you feel more comfortable on your wedding day. These are relaxed and informal, and can also include some posing tips if you want them.
During the run up to your wedding day I am always available for a chat, either by phone or over coffee, and I keep in touch with you by email. I also phone you a week before your wedding just in case there are any last minute changes.
After you wedding I edit your photographs and endeavour to have them ready for you within 2 weeks, where they will be available in your online gallery. If you are having your images on disc or usb, then this will usually arrive in the post shortly afterwards, or I will deliver it by hand if you are local.
If you have ordered prints, coffee table books, or albums then we will meet up to finalise your choices, and design the album together.
Every single wedding should have at least one quirky shot which shows your true love and personalities.
I have never been asked to take an 'original' photo, but at a recent wedding I got all the kids to run at me while I took some shots... they were fantastic and the kids were no longer bored (even some of the adults joined in).
Umbrellas, but I always carry some with me just in case.
At the age of 6 I was bought a Kodak 110 Instamatic for Christmas. That is where it all began, and I have never looked back.
