What is your most memorable wedding?
They are all memorable! All of my weddings I have enjoyed moments, from the father of the bride speech which made me cry. To the bride crowd surfing. I even had a wedding where they tossed a coin to decide who was going to change their surname. The bride won!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Documentary, creative, fun, romantic, colourful
What about your business are you most proud of?
I am proud of the experience I give my couple, the countless thank you cards I receive and the kind words they say about me.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Book your suppliers early. The good ones get booked up fast.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
At a wonderful wedding at Barn on The Bay, the couple had asked all of their guests to make a triangle of bunting. Each triangle was then added together to make bunting which looked amazing, there were drawings, collages and poems. It was beautiful.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I always meet with the couple, it isn't a formal meeting! Usually we meet in the pub. Its about getting to know them, seeing if we click and get on. I then send out a questionnaire a month before the wedding, from the answers I create a photography timeline. We then either meet up again before the wedding or we chat over the phone and go through the timeline making changes and ironing out any issues. Couples can email me or ring me any time to get advice or to ask questions. They can keep track of what I have been up to on my FB page and instagram.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A picture of you both laughing and smiling together.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
I am more of a documentary photographer, so I don't really get asked to take pictures, I capture moments, what is happening.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
I love a bit of rain at a wedding, we live in the UK, it's what to be expected. I absolutely love photographing couples in the rain with a nice big umbrella, you can really capture some stunning pictures with all of the reflections.
Describe how you got into photography.
I have always been into art, I did a fine art degree and then became an art teacher. I had a student who was very creative but couldn't draw, he loved taking photographs. He asked if I could set up a photography club. I quite liked photography so thought why not. I absolutely loved running the club, and it grew from there. Sam Hood the student who persuaded me to run the club became Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year. I now teach A Level and GCSE photography Part time and I absolutely love it!
