At F.D.Young Photography, based in Burntisland, Fife, we believe your wedding day is a beautiful story waiting to be told—not a staged photoshoot. Our approach focuses on capturing the genuine, unscripted moments that make your celebration truly yours. From laughter to happy tears, we create a timeless gallery that reflects the real emotions and joy of your special day. If you’re a couple who values authentic, candid photography over posed shots, you’ve found the right photographer.
We understand that being in front of the camera can feel overwhelming, especially if you don’t consider yourselves “photo people.” That’s why we specialize in making couples feel natural and confident, so you can focus on enjoying every moment. To provide this level of care and attention, we only take on a limited number of weddings each year. This ensures a personal, stress-free experience from start to finish.
With over five years and several hundred weddings captured, Fraser of F.D.Young Photography brings extensive experience at some of Scotland’s most stunning venues. Couples consistently praise the relaxed, professional approach that makes their day enjoyable and stress-free, while perfectly capturing the joy and spirit of their wedding.
I genuinely could not pick one. It's like asking a mother to choose between her children.
Natural. Relaxed. Timeless. Candid. Yours.
I'm most proud of how ew make couples feel - there's is honestly nothing more rewarding than when couples get in touch months after the wedding to just remind me how much they love the photos and how every time people come over to the house, no one can shut up about how great the photos hanging on the wall are. It's so rewarding knowing that what I do stays with couples for life.
The most important thing to consider when picking your wedding photographer is whether this is someone you want there on your wedding day. Your photographer is going to be around you pretty much all day. Make sure its someone you can trust and have rapport with. This is why by the day of the wedding; I’ll have met my couples at least three times. And often, they’ll have worked with me before already in a pre-wedding session. A camera is a lot less intimidating when it is held by someone you trust.
I was working with a bride one time who loved vintage cameras (her grandfather had owned a photography shop), and she had some photos of her venue that were taken back in the 60’s, which she had shown me during one of our meetings. So, I surprised them by bringing my grandfather’s camera and some vintage style film to their wedding, and we recreated the photos, but with the couple standing in them. They really loved it, that was super rewarding. Ever since I have offered vintage cameras as an optional extra, I find antique cameras a nice challenge to work with, and they have a certain look which is hard to recreate.
We like to get to know our couples. So every experience is unique.
There isn't one. The gallery should just be you enjoying your day to the full - my job is to capture it as it happens.
Well, not one we planned to take! But Bex and Frankie's venue fell down the night before the wedding (Scottish Wind and 'permanent' marquees don't mix to well. So we decided to make the most of it and we went down to the Marquee and did photos of the guys in front of it - who couldn't stop laughing - and I know for a fact it's their favourite photo form their wedding, and the one they'll show their children and grandchildren one day. A proper memory moment.
At the end of the day, you'll be too busy enjoying yourself and surrounded by all your friends and family to worry about the weather. Your wedding day is all about your love for each other and celebrating that love with all your friends and family. No matter the weather, rain or shine we will be there to capture the story of you and your amazing wedding day!
At the time I was working in film and tv, on a show called 'SUCESSION' by H.B.O and a friend asked me to shoot her wedding... I actually said no the first three times she asked me. I really did not trust myself to shoot a wedding... I mean, it’s a wedding, right? What if I do a bad job? But on fourth time of asking, she told me she’d already booked me a plane ticket to Greece, so I might as well bring my camera. I’m very glad Megan forced me to do it, as I completely and utterly fell in love with it. When I got home, the whole time all I kept thinking about was this dream starting up as a wedding photographer... I think when something grabs your mind quite as thoroughly as that, you need to take a leap of faith and follow it. So, I took that leap of faith, and walked out of a job with a Netflix production a few months later to start the business. I am really glad I did it, I now have the best job in the world.
