What is your most memorable wedding?
Shooting Matt & Linzi's wedding at Tunnels Beaches - what an incredible venue. An almost perfect autumn day, despite collecting around £3000 worth of damage to equipment! Being at the beach definitely helped keep going, and we ended up with some incredible images, especially at sunset.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, candid, documentary, relaxed, fun.
What about your business are you most proud of?
Taking photos that the couples are proud of - it's really that simple. Finishing a gallery and looking back through is rewarding enough, but when they come back expressing their love of the photos? Nothing beats it.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Ask all the questions! Even if they feel silly or stupid, please just ask - we've heard it all before, have no shame, it will only make the end result better. Especially if you have particular physical insecurities? Let me know - I will consider it as I take pictures so you can feel confident showing them and printing them.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I love the puzzle signing idea - it's a really nice interactive thing to have your guests do, to then frame it at the end - just make sure the majority know about before drinking too much or you'll end up with either a very messy puzzle, or any empty one!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We'll start with a phone/video call or even meet up in person if convenient to go through the general plan. After that, I'll keep my lines open of course if anything changes. Otherwise, I'll be in touch every so often to catch up, see if you need any assistance with the wedding planning, and make sure we're all still looking good for the day!
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
One of my favourites is the first drink together - the ceremony is over, you've been handed a drink and it's the first time you get to properly relax all day!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Recreating THAT shot from Titanic aboard an RNLI boat, as the groom worked with the Lifeboats service. Legend.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Make the most of it - if it's too wet to get outside at all then simply don't think about it (sarcasm, much easier said than done). Seriously, it happens, fortunately you'll be surrounded by staff and vendors that have been in this situation plenty of times - we will all come together to be creative and make it as seamless as possible inside to help you enjoy it, regardless.
However, I know some of you would just get stuck in whatever the weather - no problem for me, I don't care about the rain so much and my gear is all weather sealed - let's get out there!
Describe how you got into photography.
A family friend bought me a little instax camera when I was younger, and I've been into photography ever since. I then got my first job at 16, got myself a little DSLR and started learning from there. A friend was a wedding photographer, liked some of my photos so took me on a wedding as assistant which was great! I loved it straight away, and worked as an assistant for a few years until finally I made the plunge to go it alone.
