What is your most memorable wedding?
Our most memorable wedding was in a field! We camped at the site the night before and after the wedding and helped set up the day before. The whole weekend was completely stripped back with a vintage theme with everyone doing their bit. It was amazing.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Timeless, crisp, beautiful, documentary, modern
What about your business are you most proud of?
The service we offer each client. Great photographs are a given, it's what we do but it's the great service we give our clients that stands us out from the rest. We still see many of our clients years after their weddings.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Book things early! Most vendors will want a small deposit to book the date, get this done earlier and it will make the run in much easier.
From a time keeping point of view make sure you leave enough time to put the dress on, especially if it is laced!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
We like the simple things but anything that reflects the couple's personality is great.
The best would have to be the favours at a particular wedding where the bride and groom had hand written an individual message to every one of the 100+ guests on the back. Lovely touch.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
For every wedding (travel depending) we start with a face to face consultation so we get to know each other well. At the consultation brides will receive a booklet outlining everything they need to know about our services as well as a timeline of when things happen, when payments are due etc.
A couple of weeks before the wedding we have a pre wedding shoot, it gives us a chance to catch up, tak about their day and iron out any last minute details we need to know about - as well as taking some beautiful photographs!
On the wedding day we're there for as long as they'd like us to be, usually from the start of bridal prep to the first dance.
Around 4 weeks after the wedding the photos will be ready to view at our studio in Preston (or online if living away). We put a slideshow on the big screen of our favourites then flick through all of the photographs of the day and reminisce with the bride and groom :)
At this point we talk albums if they have ordered one and outline what we need to make them. After the bride and groom send us the list of photos they'd like we design the album and send proofs (within 1 week), if the bride and groom are happy we order the album which usually takes 2 weeks to come through.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Can't really say a #1 photo as the couple's favourite can vary, whether it's a stunning bridal portrait, a group shot, a first reveal to dad or dancing with grandpa at night.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
To be honest our brides don't ask much for particular photos, they're happy for us to just do us as we capture original and unique photos at every wedding.
A photo that stands out was a groom turning up at a pub for a pre wedding drink, he'd asked me to be there at a particular time and said I would love a surprise he had. As he was from a farming family I was expecting some kind of tractor done up with ribbon but he rolled over the crest of the hill... in a tank!!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
We always prepare for the worse, we bring clear and white umbrellas to every wedding and scope out indoor locations we can use if it's really bad weather.
For bride and grooms I'd say you have 2 options - embrace tha rain (some rain shots can look amazing!) or come inside and we'll rock the photos anyway.
Describe how you got into photography.
I got into photography like most I think as it started as a hobby and progressed to us taking photos of family and friends.
When people asked us to cover a wedding I wanted to do it right so I assisted a photographer in Stoke at weddings for 20+ weddings so I knew the ropes and what to expect at our own.
It made the transition really easy and 100+ weddings later it's now second nature!
