David Wagstaffe Photography Full Description
Some photographers offer a documentary style where others opt for a more traditional approach - I like to offer both! I'm as unobtrusive as possible and like to capture as many candid true moments as I can throughout your entire day. Your bridal preparation (if you choose it) is shot entirely in a documentary style, however I'll still be there organising your formal posed shots with your family and friends, and of course with you and your partner. I like to keep things simple for all of us so I offer just 3 price plans starting at only £500 with absolutely no hidden charges or surprises. If you like what you hear, and more importantly what you see then I'd love to hear from you or if you have any questions no matter how weird or wacky then please get in touch.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Probably a wedding I shot in Pencoed House last year - it was very windy and it rained ALL DAY! It didn't even let up for 5 minutes to whisk the bride and groom outside for a few couples portraits. I always have plan B though and we still managed to get some great indoor shots which I'm really proud of.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Relaxed, vibrant, romantic, contemporary yet traditional (work that one out!)

What about your business are you most proud of?

The fact that people choose me to document such momentous occasions in their lives is the thing that I'm most proud of and that's why I love my work so much and put all of my effort into every job.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Relax! Don't stress about pleasing everyone else it's YOUR special day! Just try and enjoy it all because it will go quicker than you can imagine!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

One bride wore a pair of bright green Converse All Star daps instead of traditional shoes and glued diamantes all over the front of them which I thought that was a nice touch.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

We meet up briefly where I take down all of the main wedding details and we can get to know each other a little. I also compile a shot list with the couple and discuss any ideas we both have. (If it's a new venue for me I will always go to the location beforehand.) I'll then get in touch again a week or so before the wedding just to check in. My next contact will be a quick call to let the couple know I'm on the way on the morning of the big day!

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Every couple is different so I wouldn't say there's a particular 'number 1' photo that suits everyone. I try and come up with ideas with the couple before the wedding which are unique to them - maybe they met during a particular activity which could be incorporated into a shot or they may have items from a first date for example. As far as I'm concerned, if it's possible for me to do then anything goes!

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Probably a photo of a bridesmaid's bum! She's apparently renowned for showing it off after a few too many drinks!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Several large umbrellas! Although some days (particularly in Wales) not even an umbrella can save the day and they're not much use when it comes to large group shots. Not to worry - I always check out every venue before a wedding to locate nice areas for indoor shots as a backup plan.

Describe how you got into photography.

I've loved cameras since I was a young teen, however I really got into photography after getting my dog Indi around 7 years ago. He's a husky who needs a lot of exercise so we'd go walking for hours every day around the local hills. I'd always take my camera with me and I decided I wanted to really learn how to use it which led me to a part time degree in digital photography. Shortly after, I had my first child which naturally got me into studio portraiture which is where my business started. Weddings were then a natural progression and after shooting several of them with a fellow pro I took the plunge and went it alone and I've never looked back.
