David Burke Photography Full Description
Hi I'm David, I have over ten years experience in photographing weddings. My style is mostly documentary, so I'm looking to capture the unseen moments in a more hands-off approach while you get on and enjoy your wedding day! I do of course capture all the other bits that make a wedding - detail shots, some couples pictures (although I tailor these to each and every couple, as you're all unique and some want to spend a bit more time on these - up to you!) and some of those important group shots (although I try to limit these to the really important small family groups, so you can spend time having fun rather than lining up!) I pride myself on my unobtrusive, friendly approach and see it as a great honour to be there as part of your day, to document it for you and future generations!

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Here are two at opposite ends of the scale - Lydia and Charles, who were married in St Margaret's church Westminster, with a reception in the House of Lords, and then an evening black tie reception at the Intercontinental Hotel for 200+ people. And then Anna and Will, who were married with just 2 other guests as witnesses - me being one of them!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

candid, natural, relaxed, observational, stylish

What about your business are you most proud of?

All my positive feedback, and that I've been part of the history of all those families for years to come.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Enjoy the day and don't sweat on the small stuff that might not be 100% - no one else will notice!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I usually like to meet couples for a chat beforehand (or online at the moment!) to describe my style and hear about their plans. On booking, an online contract is filled out. We usually do a pre-wedding shoot one evening either in London or Kent, then about 2 weeks before we chat over the final details and timings. On the day, I'll work extra hours if I think it'll make the day run more smoothly and help to create that stress-free feeling I want.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Although I'm mostly documentary, I would always suggest a small number of group shots but the really important ones - close family and if they're able to attend - with the grandparents!

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Original for a specific purpose - a photo of a bride putting on her veil, which was a family heirloom. After the wedding, each bride puts a picture of them in the veil back in the box with the veil, for future wearers to see. Absolutely loved it, and loved to think that my photo will be seen years from now!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Go with the flow, be prepared to be a bit more flexible with timings for portraits and group shots. I've only ever had 2 weddings where we couldn't go outside at some stage!

Describe how you got into photography.

I started photography as a teenager, originally with black and white landscape photography, and have loved it ever since!
