David Burke Photography Full Description

Your Wedding Day, Beautifully Captured

For over 15 years, David Burke has been helping couples tell the story of their wedding day through natural, unobtrusive photography. Based in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, David is a full-time professional dedicated to capturing the genuine moments as they happen—so you can fully enjoy every smile, tear, and laugh without interruption.

A Relaxed, Candid Style That Feels Natural

David’s approach is all about documentary wedding photography. He focuses on the real emotions and interactions that make your day truly unique. Working quietly in the background, he helps you and your guests feel comfortable and at ease. This means your photos will be authentic, heartfelt, and full of life.

While most of the day is captured candidly, David also sets aside time for beautiful portraits of you as a couple, plus those important family group shots everyone will treasure.

An Expert Eye for Detail and Drama

With a background in black and white landscape photography, David brings a fresh and artistic perspective to wedding photography. His skill in composition and dramatic lighting helps create striking images that stand out.

He loves the timeless feel of black and white photos, which highlight texture and emotion, but also embraces vibrant colors when they add to the story of your day.

Experience You Can Trust

David has photographed a wide variety of weddings, from intimate gatherings to celebrations with over 250 guests. His experience includes:

  • Traditional church weddings
  • Jewish, Muslim, and Sikh ceremonies
  • Humanist blessings and woodland celebrations
  • Chinese tea ceremonies
  • Same-sex weddings

He is proud to be a recommended supplier at many of Kent’s top wedding venues, including:

  • Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells
  • Penshurst Place
  • Knowlton Court
  • Tonbridge School
  • Riverhill Gardens

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Here are two at opposite ends of the scale - Lydia and Charles, who were married in St Margaret's church Westminster, with a reception in the House of Lords, and then an evening black tie reception at the Intercontinental Hotel for 200+ people. And then Anna and Will, who were married with just 2 other guests as witnesses - me being one of them!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

candid, natural, relaxed, observational, stylish

What about your business are you most proud of?

All my positive feedback, and that I've been part of the history of all those families for years to come.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Enjoy the day and don't sweat on the small stuff that might not be 100% - no one else will notice!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I usually like to meet couples for a chat beforehand (or online at the moment!) to describe my style and hear about their plans. On booking, an online contract is filled out. We usually do a pre-wedding shoot one evening either in London or Kent, then about 2 weeks before we chat over the final details and timings. On the day, I'll work extra hours if I think it'll make the day run more smoothly and help to create that stress-free feeling I want.

What is the No.1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Although I'm mostly documentary, I would always suggest a small number of group shots but the really important ones - close family and if they're able to attend - with the grandparents!

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Original for a specific purpose - a photo of a bride putting on her veil, which was a family heirloom. After the wedding, each bride puts a picture of them in the veil back in the box with the veil, for future wearers to see. Absolutely loved it, and loved to think that my photo will be seen years from now!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Go with the flow, be prepared to be a bit more flexible with timings for portraits and group shots. I've only ever had 2 weddings where we couldn't go outside at some stage!

Describe how you got into photography.

I started photography as a teenager, originally with black and white landscape photography, and have loved it ever since!
