Hi, I'm Daniel 👋

My style has been described as creative, elegant and timeless. My goal is to give you the most beautiful, and candid photographs of your wedding day.
My philosophy when it comes to wedding photography is to blend in with your day. Most couples (and guests) do not want to spend their day endlessly posing for photographs. That is why for most of the time I will just be capturing the day as it happens. We will of course take a bit of time out to capture some beautiful and creative couples portraits as well as your group photographs.

Daniel Mainland Photography Full Description
Relaxed, candid and creative. I’ve always enjoyed taking photographs of people, but it wasn’t until I started shooting weddings that I truly found my passion. I honed my skills working for some of the best wedding photographers in Glasgow, in some of the most prestigious Scottish wedding venues before venturing out on my own. I like to work closely with my couples to make sure I document all the moments of their day and people who are important to them. I stay away from overly staged and posed photographs for the most part and instead capture the natural aesthetic of your wedding day, but don't worry I will still get all those family group shots and beautiful couples portraits as well.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

A couple who were getting married in secret asked me to be one of their witnesses afterwards We headed in to Glasgow to take their wedding photos in and around some Glasgow landmarks. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. I then photographed their wedding party the following month once they had told their family and friends.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Relaxed, Creative, Candid, Elegant, Timeless

What about your business are you most proud of?

Being a part of so many peoples special day and capturing those special memories.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Make sure you have scissors and a crochet hook during bridal prep, labels and tags always need to be cut off and it is usually the make up artist has to use her fake eyelash scissors to save the day. I have also seen a lot of fake nails break or come off trying to fasten hooks and small buttons on the back of dresses, a crochet hook always saves the day.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

One couple had a photo of themselves with each guest from some point during their lives together as favours next to their placenames at their tables. The amount of time and effort that it must of taken and the reaction of the guests as they took their seats for dinner was brilliant.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Confetti runs make for great photos.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Oh, there have been a few, a bride with her horse. Bride and groom on his motorbike with her dress flying out behind her. A couple in a police car, photoshopped to make it look they had stolen it!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Umbrellas, we can create some fantastic photos in the rain. It also very rare that it rains all day, so we can usually still nip out between showers for your couples portraits. We can also create some stunning images indoors with a little bit of creative flash work.
