Daniel Charles Photography Full Description
I simply love my job! We all know that a happy worker produces better work than a miserable jobsworth. Which type of character do you want at your wedding? I pride myself on the feedback I get from my couples, their families and friends; consistently, that myself and my staff are friendly, approachable, helpful and polite. I'm not interested in building my portfolio or massaging my ego - I'm there to ensure that your amazing, unique day is captured professionally, providing you with photos that will match and enhance your emotions and memories from the big day. I won't bend you into uncomfortable poses or make you do things that make you uncomfortable. I want you to look at your photos and feel that they represent you as a couple. I hope you like what you see here on Bridebook and that I'll hear from you soon.

Dan was phenomenal! From the very start he put us both at ease. Maybe this was from his clear expertise or his quick witted humour. He knows what looks good and will shoot the best of your special day. His work speaks for itself. He will also help make sure the day runs smoothly for a small fee of food. He made our special day incredible. Thank you so much!! Cannot put into words how much it meant to us.

Peckforton Castle

Dan recently did our wedding at Peckforton Castle in October. What an absolute pleasure he was! Genuinely one of the nicest blokes I've met. He was well organised and he kept in touch the whole time. Me and my wife were clueless on what we wanted but he helped us every step of the way. On the day he was brilliant; everyone loved him. Despite there being a few hiccups on our part with our daughter playing up, Dan was great and was really understanding. To top it off, he was fantastic on price - we found when searching for photographers for the day, there's a lot of really expensive people out there who didn't seem to offer much in value or quality but this certainly isn't the case with Daniel Charles Photography. The picture quality was exceptional, capturing all the moments of the wedding that were important to us. Great price, great bloke and a great photographer. An honour to have had him capture our day!

Just thought I would drop you a line to thank you for everything for our wedding day. From the first time we met for our pre-wedding sales meeting, you made us feel relaxed and made us realise that we didn’t have to worry about that element of the day. You were contactable and easy going. To the actual day itself, from the word go, you were professional and made everyone who was there feel chilled. It felt like you were a guest as opposed to ‘working’! We haven’t got a bad word to say and it felt like I’d known you for years. Jen’s dad had said how relaxed you made him feel before his speech (although it didn’t help much :-)) and the couple of chats you had with him through the day helped him get through some parts of it. Also, it’s nice to let you know that near enough all of the guests throughout the day (and after the day) have complimented you in some way or another. Whether it be your professionalism, or how you made them laugh, or how you weren’t full on – many said you’re the best photographer they had seen at a wedding. I know your wife won’t appreciate me giving you a big head but credit where credit is due!! The same was true for your assistant who was faultless all day. I don’t want to ramble on and repeat myself although I sort of have but from the both of us I cannot tell you how happy we were that we chose you! People like to moan and give poor feedback but I think praise should be given when something’s been great and it certainly was that and more. Look forward to seeing you soon and you will be getting recommended left, right & centre!

I can't begin to thank you enough for everything

I can't begin to thank you enough for everything you did for us on our wedding day. We think of the day all of the time and have fantastic memories and it definitely wouldn't have gone so well without your help. The feedback from the guests was fantastic. They said you made them all relaxed whilst managing to get the job done at the same time. The albums and photographs are absolutely amazing and brought back such happy memories. We will look back on those pictures for the rest of our lives and everyone agrees how amazing they are. I can't thank you enough for everything you have done for us; often going above and beyond what we expected and making the day and the memories perfect.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

I don't grade my weddings like this, but my favourite venue is Knowsley Hall.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Beautiful, modern, fun, emotional, realistic.

What about your business are you most proud of?

The way I deal with guests on the day - consistently friendly and gentle.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Relax! Don't lose sight of the fact that the day is about the two of you, not your table decorations or chair covers.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

A friend of mine themed a wedding around a country barn style with daisies in tiny glass bottles, along with hay bales and crusty wooden ladders. Beautiful!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

From the first contact, I arrange a meeting at my home to go through my prices and albums. Then, when the couple have booked (with a non-refundable downpayment of about 30%) and a couple of weeks before the wedding, we meet at the venue to plan the day (my experience here is often invaluable!) and take a stroll around the sites, looking for those beautiful backdrops for couple photos. We'll also work out a rain contingency! The invoice is settled, and then we wait for the big day! After the shoot, I go through all the photos and edit them, put them on a USB stick and then show them to the couple at a post-wedding viewing meeting. We choose the album features, so that I can design and order the album. This is done via an online-proofing service, so the couple can request changes to the design very easily. Finally, the album is printed, delivered and handed over. Job done! :-)

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

A photo of the whole crowd with the bride and groom.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

I've been doing this too long to remember! Probably my favourite quirky photo overall was the entire wedding party in a cinema, with 3-D glasses on, pretending to be scared of the movie. My idea, of course!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

A roof! Choose your venue carefully to make sure it has a beautiful interior as well as exterior. The gardens may be amazing, but if it's chucking it down and the building interior is shabby and poor, you're in trouble.

Describe how you got into photography.

I got my first camera as a 14th birthday present, over 30 years ago. That was it - I was hooked! I studied Graphic Design and Photography at college, and went self-employed in 2000. Since then, wedding photography has become the discipline that provides 95% of my yearly turnover. I love it!
