What is your most memorable wedding?
The magical wedding of Rhian and Kris. An outdoor summer wedding in August when it threatened to rain but instead turned out to be a beautiful day with so much fun and laughter.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Fun, relaxed, documentary, modern, romantic and quirky. Yes I know that's 6!
What about your business are you most proud of?
The response I get from couples once they have seen their photographs is priceless. I love the fact that they trust me to capture the most wonderful day of their lives and I am always grateful for that trust. I take such an immense pride knowing that the photographs I capture on a wedding day will be shown in their family for generations.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't get caught up in worrying about timetables and schedules. There are only one or two events that need to happen at a specific time so just let the day unfold and remember to take a few minutes away from it all every now and then to just spend time with each other.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I've seen this at quite a few weddings and I always love it. It's when a couple have photos of their own parents and grandparents wedding day dotted around the venue, it always makes me feel they are entering into something bigger than themselves.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Firstly to spend time with them to make sure they are happy with me on a personal level, if we don't get on then that will come across on the photographs. Also before the day we will meet to do a little venue visit and do a short practice portrait shoot. This means that on their wedding day it's the third time we've met and they have already had their photo taken by me. This means we are all so much more relaxed on the big day enabling us to get wonderful emotive images.
What is the No.1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A beautiful couples portrait.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
I don't really get asked for specific types of photo other than ones with certain family etc. I have a few photos on my website that couples sometimes say "we'd love one like that" and I have a few secret compositions, poses and techniques I'll use.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Firstly it's not very often it will rain all day so just go with it. Don't let rain spoil your day. In fact you can get some really dramatic images with rain. I've been very lucky that it has only rained on a few of my weddings. From a creative view it really helps as you have to work a little harder to still get great looking images even when circumstances aren't the best.
Describe how you got into photography.
Think like most good wedding photographers it was a bit of a hobby to start. Friends knew I liked photography and so I'd get asked to bring my camera along to their wedding etc and it took off from there. I always say though I was good at photography first before I ever shot a wedding. In fact I don't say I'm a Wedding Photographer, I say I'm a Photographer who photographs weddings.
