"I first heard about Claire through a bridal shop that I nearly didn’t bother going to. There was no dress bought that day but I did leave with an emphatic recommendation to look up her work. And so we did.
We only saw one photographer in the end because once we met up with Claire and saw her albums, it was pretty obvious that we wouldn’t be needing to meet anyone else. It is one of the best decisions we made for our day. Once we’d seen how good wedding photography can be it became even more important to us that our day was captured by Claire, we couldn’t have entrusted it to anyone else.
We had a pre wedding chat to talk over finals details but really we knew we could just let her get on with it. The day is fleeting and we didn’t want to spend ages doing group shots or silly poses and Claire is totally on board with this. She lets you get on with the important stuff, like enjoying yourself.
Claire was relaxed, friendly and happy. It was like having another guest (but with an awesome camera). Our friends and family all really took to her and she was happy to indulge us, putting up with a lot of silliness and giddiness with good humour!
Neither of us are posers or naturals in front of the camera but with Claire you don’t have to be. We never felt that we had to do anything cringey for the sake of a photograph. It was just easy and relaxed. We totally love her reportage style even more for that reason. The colours, the hint of vintage (but no clichés!) are perfection.
We love that Claire picked up on the little details. There’s a photograph of our much-loved Marshall speaker on an old school chair against these beautiful green tiles. Not everyone would have picked up on the ordinary beauty of that, but Claire did.
Our venue was a rough diamond full of character and history but plenty of imperfections too. When we told Claire about it she was super excited, which was just lovely to see because we really wanted our photographer to understand what we loved about at it and Claire totally did. Her photographs capture the beauty, light and colour of the building. She saw it as we did.
The same words come up when we’ve shown our photos to our friends, family and colleagues: ‘stunning’, ‘amazing’. These words can be a bit overused but we have to say, we completely agree.
Our favourite thing about the photos is that you didn’t have to be there to know what the day was like. We saw a preview on the blog very quickly after the wedding and we were right back there.
Claire, we consider your photographs to be an heirloom. They have truly captured our special day for the future. We will get them out every year on 25 April and relive our day.
With much love
Emma and Pete xx"
