What is your most memorable wedding?
I was very fortunate to work at Zara Phillips & Mike Tindall's wedding in Edinburgh in 2011.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, bright, unobtrusive, colourful, relaxed
What about your business are you most proud of?
I am so proud of the fact that my clients keep coming back to me to capture all of their life events after their wedding. From family portraits to fist birthdays and christenings.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Get to know your photographer. You will be spending the whole day with them and if you can't relax with them, it will show in your photos. Make sure you pick someone that you really like and they will be able to capture the real you and bring out the best of you both in your images.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Flip flops for the ladies when their feet get sore & hangover bags to take home (water, aspirin and a bacon sarny).
Describe your typical process with a couple.
After an initial meeting, I’ll ask you to complete a detailed questionnaire in advance that covers everything from timings, venues, hair and makeup arrangements, caterers, music and beyond. I will have all the timings mapped out so I know precisely where I need to be and when. I follow the whole day, from the bride and bridesmaids getting ready, to the last dance. I will capture the formal photos and the behind-the-scenes details that most people miss. I get to the venue early to photograph the setting, chat to the suppliers, get the running order from the DJ. Nothing is left to chance. After all, this is your day, and I want it to be perfect just as much as you do.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Make sure you have a photo taken outside your venue. There is a reason why you chose it, so make sure you feature it.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Does Princess Anne playing air guitar count?
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Wellies and some bright colourful umbrellas - I will get fabulous photos of you dancing in the rain. If you can't beat it, make the most of it!
Describe how you got into photography.
I have always loved documentary photography so for me, specialising in photography at university was a no-brainer. I have always documented my life through photography so it made sense to capture everyone else's special moments too. I have spent my whole life with a camera in. my hand from the age of about 7. It is in my blood and it's what makes me tick - I couldn't do anything else for a living.
