What is your most memorable wedding?
It is impossible to answer as every wedding is unique and memorable in its own way.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Friendly, professional, modern, relaxed, candid
What about your business are you most proud of?
The continued positive feedback we have back from our clients and their families and the subsequent referrals.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
When choosing your photographer if possible meet with them or chat over Skype - they are likely to be with you for most of your wedding day so it's important you feel comfortable with each other. It may be a cliche, but the smile needs to reach your eyes, otherwise it will show in your wedding images.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
When couples find ways to include loved ones that are no longer with them on their special day.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We reply to all enquiries within 24 hours - we send out basic info about out our services and links to our galleries and reviews from previous clients.
We offer prospective clients a consultation either in person or over the phone.
At the consultation, we show them albums containing some of our previous work and chat with them to find out about their wedding plans and to find out what is important to them. We give them a pack to take away with information about our services, albums and how to book. We offer to hold their date for a week and ask if possible they could let us know either way within that time.
To secure a booking we ask for a small booking fee, the balance is then payable 6 weeks before the wedding day.
About 6 weeks before the wedding we send our clients a pre-wedding questionnaire to complete an return - this covers timings, any group images they would like and a details of any other special images they would like. Once we have received the form back we would either call the couple to go through everything with them or arrange to meet them at their venue if they would prefer.
We would then message the couple a few days before their wedding to confirm that there have been no major changes.
Fully edited images are provided 4-6wks post wedding
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
We often find the most precious photos are the ones of elderly relatives such as grandparents who unfortunately may not be with us for many more years to come.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Stuart is a CAA licensed to fly an UAV (drone) commercially - we include it free with our full day package - couples love the originality of the images we are able to produce with it.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
We all know the weather in the UK is very unpredictable. In 10 years we have been photographing weddings we have only had a handful where it has rainy all day. We recommend that couples are flexible with their photography timings if the weather is bad as we may need to do it in stages as the weather allows. We always ensure that we have carried out a reccie of the venue beforehand to find soloutions if the weather gods are very unkind to us.
Describe how you got into photography.
I have had a passion for photography since I purchased my first SLR camera and set of lens long before we moved into the digital era. Back then it was a hobby, but often I was asked to photograph friend’s weddings. After being redundant from my IT job in London I decided to take the opportunity to change career. I embarked on some photography training. and then shadowed a wedding photographer for a year. As time went on I realised that I loved being part of somebody’s special day and weddings were what I wanted to specialise in. Bay Images was set up in 2007.
My wife, Nicola designed our wedding albums and as time progressed came along to wedding as my assistant (it was the only way we got to see each other during the wedding season!). After a few years, I suggested she used my spare camera to take candid shots of the guests. It wasn't long before she was hooked so she took a few photography courses and as they say the rest is history!
