Probably Andrea and Neil’s wedding – my first! They had both seen my street photography and approached me about shooting their wedding with the same approach, just capturing the day as it unfolded. It was a fantastic wedding and real honour to be involved.
Observational. Natural. Storytelling. Unobtrusive. Fun.
Definitely the satisfaction people get from the pictures. Photographing weddings is hugely enjoyable and its a real honour to be a part of someone’s big day. Seeing the pleasure that people get from the pictures just adds to that!
Relax and enjoy it!
I once went to a party and the hired photographer produced little polaroid style prints of the party throughout the event. It was lovely and people really seemed to value it. So, I now produce little credit card prints of the ceremony and early stages of the day, and put them on display for people to look at during the reception.
Speeches...and how you and your guests react to them
Umbrellas. Rain can provide challenges but some of the best wedding pictures I have seen are taken with the couple under an umbrella, with or without wellies on! As a photographer, it’s important to have cameras and lenses that are weather resistant particularly in the UK.
