Andrew Morgan Photography Full Description
Hi, I'm Andrew and for the last 7 years I've been photographing people saying I do in the most beautiful locations! I spend most of the year based on Zanzibar island off the coast of East Africa where I first started shooting weddings in 2010. I started out quite slowly as a part time wedding photographer but since going full time I have now shot over 150 weddings on the island alone. When I'm not out here or working elsewhere I am in my home country of South Africa. Being based in a tropical paradise most of my weddings are on the beach, so beach weddings are kind of my thing. But I'm also really lucky to be so close to the wilds of Africa where I've photographed weddings in the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire National Parks to name a few! I have a massive passion for wildlife so getting to shoot weddings out on safari is always a massive highlight! I also love to travel and am keen to capture weddings all over the world! Get in touch and let's see if I'm the right photographer for you!

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

I've been really lucky to have some very epic weddings! My first safari wedding was incredible, the bride and groom and all their friends and family in the middle of the Tanzanian bush followed by a great party and fantastic photo opportunities! A three day Indian wedding in Zanzibar in 2015 with hundreds of people, colors, dancing and fun! A couple eloping on a sandbank in the middle of the ocean an hours boat ride away from their hotel. Every wedding has something special about it, I can't wait for the next one!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

fun, vibrant, unobtrusive, daring, adventurous

What about your business are you most proud of?

That by the end of a wedding I am friends with all of my bride and grooms.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't let it get too stressful, it's your day. Do what will make you happy and enjoy it!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Being that my couples are from all over the world, it's very seldom that I get to have face to face meetings months before the wedding. When I can it's always a nice treat, but generally all the planning takes place via e-mail with WhatsApp messages and phone/skype calls too! When I travel for weddings I meet the couple the day before, we run through any bits of important information for the wedding day and maybe even do a little couple shoot. When couples come to Zanzibar I often only meet them on the wedding day itself, but by this stage we already feel like we know each other. On the wedding day I capture everything! I like to shoot most of the getting ready stage in a documentary style, catching the day as it unfolds. I shoot with a Holdfast leather harness, which not only looks cool, but holds two cameras securely attached to me so I can have different lens options all the time without needing to mess around with changing lenses. It makes me faster so I catch more! I like to try and do some artistic set up shots with the wedding dress and other wedding details while everyone's getting ready and will grab some details of the ceremony venue too. During the ceremony I stick with my documentary style and try not to get in the way of anyones view and make myself as unobtrusive as possible while ensuring I don't miss any moments! typically after the ceremony I like to give everyone a chance to catch their breath and have a glass of bubbles before heading off for a fun couple shoot which the wedding party will often join for the first part. I do formal group photos either before or after the couple shoot depending on the light and time. Once all that's done I am back to documenting as much as I can, capturing the party, fun and vibe of the day! After a wedding I try to get some taster images to the couple within a couple of days and will get the final set of images delivered as soon as possible, typically within a month or two.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

An epic environmental portrait that shows the couple looking great and in love and gives a feel of the wedding location!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Just go with it! I've shot some of my favorite shots on rainy weddings.
