Hi! I'm Jay
I offer relaxed, documentary-led wedding photography for couples who want their day photographed naturally, without it feeling staged or over-directed.
I’ve been photographing weddings since 2021, initially alongside my career in the police, before launching Amarsi & Co full-time in 2025. That experience has shaped the way I work. I stay calm when plans change, keep an eye on what’s happening around me and make sure the photography never becomes the thing taking over the day.
My approach is simple: let the day happen properly, keep interruptions to a minimum and focus on the real moments that make it yours. That means the big parts, the quiet in-between bits, the reactions you might miss and the people who matter most.
Coverage is tailored around each wedding, from shorter ceremonies and intimate celebrations through to full-day photography from morning preparations into the evening. Every collection includes professionally edited, high-resolution images delivered through a private online gallery, with full printing rights and easy sharing for friends and family.
You can also add an engagement session, wedding album, additional coverage, a second photographer or 35mm film photography for a more nostalgic, imperfect finish alongside the digital photographs.
I’m based in Derbyshire and photograph weddings across the UK. My style is natural, modern and film-inspired, with a strong focus on honest moments, good light and photographs that feel like the day rather than a performance of it.
You’ll have a photographer who is easy to get on with, calm when plans change and good at helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera. My aim is for the photography to feel like part of the day, not something that takes over it.

What’s your photography style?
Documentary at heart, with an editorial edge. Most of the day I’m photographing things as they actually happen rather than constantly stopping and staging them. When we do portraits, I’ll give you enough direction that you don’t feel awkward, without turning your wedding into a photoshoot.
Do you shoot 35mm film?
Yep. Proper film, not a filter made to look like it. I shoot 35mm alongside digital and it’s become a big part of how I photograph weddings. If you love that slightly imperfect, nostalgic look, we can build more film into your coverage too.
How much does wedding photography cost?
Every wedding is slightly different, so I don’t try to squeeze everyone into the same package. Tell me what you’re planning and how much of the day you’d like covered, and I’ll put together options that actually make sense for your wedding.
We hate having our photo taken. Is that a problem?
Not remotely. Most couples tell me this. You’re not expected to know where to stand, what to do with your hands or suddenly become models for twenty minutes. I’ll give you direction when you need it and leave you alone when you don’t.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes. I’m based in Derbyshire but photograph weddings across the UK and internationally. If you’re planning something further afield, send me the details and I’ll work out the travel properly rather than making you decipher a mileage calculator.
How long do you stay?
That depends on your plans. I photograph everything from shorter celebrations through to full wedding days, so we’ll work out what coverage makes sense rather than automatically starting at 10 hours.
Do you photograph family groups?
Of course. Documentary doesn’t mean your nan gets denied a photograph with you. We’ll keep the formal list sensible, get them done efficiently and then everyone can get back to the wedding.
When do we get our photographs?
You’ll receive your finished photographs through a private online gallery, fully edited in my usual style. I’d put your actual current delivery timeframe here rather than promising something artificially quick.
Can we print our photographs?
Absolutely. Your gallery includes personal printing rights, and you can download, share and print your photographs. Professional prints and albums are also available.
