What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Make sure you know what you are getting for your hard earned money. Make fair and honest comparisons between suppliers and if you need help then get somebody to guide you or offer a second opinion. Do not book offers that are available only today or "if you book now" - certain to cause tears after.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
May seem like a cliche but our mission statement is to treat Brides and Grooms like princesses and princes on their special day. Nothing less. And who does not deserve that special bit of pamper for one day in their lives when normal life is often stressful?
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Consultation to show what we offer - nothing more. If interested we assist in tailoring a package just for them. We meet before the wedding and will carry out a pre-shoot if the couple wishes. A discussion shortly before the big day to ensure the couple know what will happen and to ensure they get the photos they would like in the style that they like.
What is the No.1 photo that you think every couple should take?
The number one photo? That is so difficult and different for all couples. I may be biased but a photo of bride with dad always brings a tear to my eye. Of course it may not be dad but there will be somebody really special to her or him.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
There are always off the wall photos that are special to the couple. Photos with pets, with horses, at relatives homes, at special places, at gravesides but I think the most amazing and initially scary for me was a charity plane jump with the bride and groom both fully togged and with bouquet!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
We have a gazebo and can take that to weddings where shelter can be difficult. We prefer natural lighting so if there are conservatories or rooms that open onto garden these spots are ideal. However some of our best photos are with umbrellas, back-lit especially at night are amazing. Don't worry about getting a bit wet and if the make-up runs well its all part of the day - laugh and enjoy ti!
Describe how you got into photography.
All started when film was the only medium. A chemist friend was experimenting and developing amazing chemicals which gave me the opportunity to do some creative work of my own. This led on to me opening a large studio - made from two large portakabins and training other photographers and people with interest in darkroom techniques and how to use the latest colour technology. Of course times changed and my own interest in computing spilled into digital photography and now look where we are!
