What is your most memorable wedding?
To be honest, the weddings I shoot are all absolutely unique to me as I really connect with people - my couples, their families and friends. I feel extremely emotional at weddings, often crying to the speeches along with the rest of the guests and laughing out loud to the best jokes! All that without missing a beat of your most special day and capturing it through my unique gaze.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Kind, attentive, sincere, skillful, calm
What about your business are you most proud of?
The connections I build with people, friendships that come of it and my artistic freedom.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Ask for help from your vendors, friends and family; plan ahead and give me a list of groups for group photos! ;)
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I love the handwritten place tags, they are so cute!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I like to talk on the phone or a video call before you decide to book me. It is important to feel out the vibe and decide whether we are a good match. I include a free pre-wedding mini photoshoot with all my packages, it is not reflected in the price and I absolutely insist on it as it makes a tremendous difference for the wedding day. You also get an option to purchase the final pictures after seeing them in your gallery.
Usually, we would have a quick coffee where you would tell me about the wedding and yourselves and then we would go for a short walk and take some pictures of you two. It is a bit of a “rehearsal” for the wedding, when we get a chance to feel each other out and get rid of any awkwardness. You also get a unique benefit of seeing my work and pictures of yourselves before the wedding, which would put you at ease and help keep you relaxed for the wedding day.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A photo with their most precious people and family members, even if they are reluctant to join!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
I usually am the one generating ideas for the unusual photos, and my favourite thing to do with group photos of the wedding party is to ask them to act like they are on a Renaissance painting.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Clear transparent umbrellas look beautiful on the photos and add a layer of extra romance!
Describe how you got into photography.
My dad is a photographer so I grew up with a film camera in my hands. As young as 7 years old, I was taking pictures of my school events, friends and nature. Looking back at the portraits and landscapes of film photos I took when I was 8-9 years old, I am quite impressed! I have been shooting all my life, my friends and colleagues portraits, parties and events, and even my friends' weddings. In uni I did a lot of media and TV, working in TV stations in Colorado and Minot. My dad still works as a photographer though, photography as a career happened to me quite unexpectedly when I became a mother nearly 3 years ago. I decided to quit my job as a university administrator and start my motherhood and wedding photography business.
