Get to know your photographer, if like me they're there for the whole day, make sure you get along with them and feel like its the kind of person who's more of a friend on your day.
For me, i'm never just a photographer, I help do up the wedding dresses, listen to speech preps, help with the ties and always love a little boogie with my clients in the evening.
I want to get to know you, so I can understand your expectations from me on the day, so meeting up before is important, often my clients have a preshoot as they love the wowii pictures I can capture for them and this is a great way you can learn how to hold yourself on the day if your camera shy. Then were in contact over email or the phone as much or as little as needed, sometimes if its possible well do a venue visit together too, and then on the day im yours till the last main event.
The formal family portraits, its the ones I hear everyone wishes they'd had done when they think they don't want this on the day, for me its a must.

Bring umbrellas if you think it might rain and its outside, then if it does rain just go with it!
I studied a Degree in Photography, started in fashion and editorial and as with all photographs I know in the wedding industry, some friend or family member begs you to capture theirs and you fall in love and the rest is history.
