Every wedding is unique, so I remember them all for different reasons, the groom who whipped out a union-jack hanky to offer his bride as she cried walking down the isle. The couple who arrived at their reception by helicopter (nearly blowing the marquee over!) The one with the overly inebriated guest starting a fight on the dance floor; the one where the bride's bouquet got munched by the 'photo op' lamas, the groom taking great care of his bride and treating her so gently and lovingly, despite her not feeling like she deserved it... every wedding has it's memorable moments that will stick with me for many years to come.
Professional, Relaxed, Friendly, Creative, Flexible
I love the fact that my clients keep coming back to me year after year, I've photographed the same families from a couple's wedding through to capturing the arrival of their children.
Don't stress, and don't let other people force you to do something you don't want to (it's your day, not theirs!)
I love it when people put themselves into their day, not leave it to the caterers to do everything, so I love weddings where you can really see that the couple have thought through the entire day, thinking not just about themselves, but what their guests are going to be doing whilst they're out having their photos taken. The best personal touch, was instructions at the end of the wedding service sheet on how to turn the service sheet into a paper plane...it made for a fantastic 'confetti' shot! :-)
I like to get to know the couples that I photograph and I hope that building a good raport shines through in the resultant photos that I take. So I always like to meet couples before they book, even if that's just a video call from the other side of the world to get to know each other. Once booked, I will look to arrange a walk around your wedding venue with you, so that we can go through your plans in a bit more details and talk about ideas and timings in more detail. And then again closer to the big day itself, we can either arrange a mini pre-wedding shoot for you to get some practice in with posing and getting comfortable in front of the camera. Spending this time together really helps everyone to feel more relaxed about the photos on the day itself.
One of my favourite photos to capture is a close up of a couple's hands, together with their rings. It's a photo that many people print up large on a canvas (who wants a big mug shot of themselves looking down on them)
Rain shouldn't ruin a wedding, if you're ready to dance in the rain you'll have the best photos! If you hide indoors, you might capture some nice shots, but how will you remember your time 'hiding away inside because of the rubbish weather' or 'giving it your all, and going for it anyway!'
