It means the world to me to be able to play the pipes whether just practicing at home, playing for fun, or playing for people. I have been very lucky to have had excellent teachers and a lot of understanding neighbours over the years as you might imagine! No complaints from neighbours in almost 40 years is pretty impressive I think!
Playing the pipes is a pleasure in itself but it is an absolute honour and a privilege to be able to play at some of the most important moments in people’s lives.
I have been very fortunate to have been asked to pipe at weddings, funerals, parties, corporate and charity events.
I have been playing now for almost 40 years, all the way from picking up a practice chanter for the first time until now. I performed in solo competitions, pipe bands, folk bands and at many special occasions and events.
I was around 10 or 11 years old when I played in my first competition on chanter and every time I have played since, regardless of where, when or why, I treat every single one with the same importance
Piping at my first wedding, aged 14, was a huge deal for me and every single special occasion or event that I have played at since has been equally as big a deal.
I am enjoying my piping now more than ever and hope you will too.
Thank you for taking the time to drop by my website and I hope that I may have the honour of playing for you at some point. After all, no occasion or event in Scotland is complete without the bagpipes.
Take care and slainte mhath
