Sam MacAdam Harpist Full Description
Hello! I really pride myself on fitting the music to your wedding - in terms of atmosphere, timings, and music requests. Not only am I an accomplished pedal harpist and clarsach player, graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a First Class BMus(Hons), but I'm specialised in weddings. This means, with almost a decade of experience playing at weddings, I'm familiar with every twist and turn a wedding can take, with most venues in Scotland and North of England, and I have an extensive repertoire. Both of my harps are fitted with pic-ups which means, inside or outside, I am amplified. This is great for allowing the harp to reach ends of country house lawns, or to be heard across excited friends and family. Along with my packages I'm also happy (and keen!) to offer any advice that you might need on choosing your music, on the type of harp that you might like, or when a harpist might fit into your day.

We can’t thank you enough, you were brilliant! Since the beginning, you accommodated all our requests. You have such a huge repertory, and we loved the fact that you could play not only classic music, but also Disney and Ghibli. All our guests were in love with the way you play the harp. Thank you for being so flexible during our wedding day, and for being able to adapt to every single circumstance with such grace. We regret not having more time to hearing and enjoying you playing. We highly recommend Sam, she is the best harpist you could have for your wedding, it’s passionate for playing the harp, does it perfectly, and also is a lovely person and amazing to work with. Thanks Sam!!

Sam did an amazing job playing for us at our wedding ceremony. Not only on the day, but in the run up to it as well - speaking to us about song choices and what was right for us. The music she helped us pick was perfect, and she played it beautifully at our ceremony. Almost everyone commented on how lovely it was to have live harp music. Now I recommend Sam to everyone considering music like this at their wedding - and they do not regret it!

All of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the music Sam played so we would like to thank Sam for being a part of our wedding. Her playing will remain a happy memory for us and we will never forget how her music brought smiles to our friends faces.

Where do we start, this lady is a multitalented musician and made our wedding extra special. From start to finish her communication was outstanding and she bent over backwards to accommodate the requests we had for our wedding. Thank you so much for bringing our wedding to life with your harp - you had everyone mesmerised. We will never forget the joy you helped us create and the smiles on everyone’s faces.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

For me, nothing beats playing for my friends and family, and it was playing for my flatmate Emma's wedding that gave me the 'wedding harpist' bug. My favourite of these (if I had to rank them!), would be my brother-in-law's small Highland wedding. Playing outside in October in the Highlands might be a bit chilly, but boy, were the views worth it! Congrats again, Mark and Nadine! <3

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Friendly, Elegant, Flexible, Showstopping, Amplified

What about your business are you most proud of?

My repertoire. I've had couples request anything from 90s dance tunes, video game music to Debussy and traditional Scottish sets. There's nothing better than a couple coming up to me and saying that their aisle music was perfect, and exactly what they'd dreamt of.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Relax! Have fun! It's easy to get bogged down in the smaller details, but you're marrying your love, and the day's going to be perfect anyway because you two are there.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I quite like a wee skype/FaceTime consultation with my couples if they've not met me in person. I'll play them some of their favourite tunes across both of my harps (as I'm aware most people aren't as harp obsessed as I am and might not know the difference) and talk about their thoughts for their ceremony music. On the day itself, I'm there before the celebrant/humanist/registrar setting up and tuning before your guests are around, and I'm totally self contained/able to move the harp by myself. You don't have to give me a second thought, just enjoy the music.
