Hello, I’m Ruth, an award-winning wedding harpist creating elegant live music for weddings and events across the UK. Based between Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, I regularly perform at beautiful venues throughout the country, bringing a timeless and romantic soundtrack to each celebration.
I founded my business in 2015 with a simple belief: that thoughtfully performed live music can transform meaningful moments into lasting memories. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of performing at hundreds of weddings in beautiful venues, including country houses, luxury hotels, historic churches, and outdoor estates.
The harp brings a uniquely timeless atmosphere to a wedding day: romantic, expressive and quietly captivating. My repertoire blends classical favourites with modern songs, film and TV music, allowing couples to create a soundtrack that feels both elegant and personal. From Debussy to Disney, from Sinatra to contemporary artists such as Taylor Swift, I offer a wide range of music to suit every generation of guests.
Many couples choose harp music for their ceremony and drinks reception, where the sound of the harp creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere as guests arrive and celebrate together. I can perform throughout key moments of the ceremony, including guest arrival, entrance music, the signing of the register and your joyful exit as newlyweds. During drinks receptions and wedding breakfasts, live harp music provides a beautiful, relaxed backdrop that enhances the atmosphere without overpowering conversation.
Every wedding I perform at is carefully personalised. I offer a music consultation to help you choose pieces that reflect your story and the mood you want to create. With a repertoire of over 300 songs and the ability to arrange special requests, I can also create bespoke harp arrangements so your most meaningful music becomes part of your day.
Alongside my wedding work, I have received international recognition within the harp world, including being a semi-finalist at the World Harp Competition and winning the Sioned Williams Harp Prize. I was honoured to be named an I Do Wedding Awards Winner 2024, based on feedback from couples, and to be recognised as a regional finalist in The Wedding Industry Awards.
With over 10 years of professional experience and performances at venues across the UK, I pride myself on delivering exceptional quality, professionalism and care. I am also a recommended supplier at several luxury venues across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, and I work closely with planners and venues to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.
Above all, my aim is to make the music planning process enjoyable and stress-free. From your first enquiry through to the final note on your wedding day, I provide clear communication, thoughtful guidance and a calm, professional presence.
If you’re looking for elegant live harp music that will create a warm, memorable atmosphere for your ceremony, drinks reception or wedding breakfast, I would be delighted to be part of your celebration.
I typically arrive at the venue around one hour before the performance start time. This allows plenty of time to set up the harp, test sound if amplification is needed, and ensure everything is perfectly in place before guests arrive.
For most weddings, I perform on my concert grand pedal harp, which offers the greatest flexibility of repertoire and a beautifully full sound. This requires approximately 1.5m x 2m of space, or slightly more (around 2m x 2m) if amplification is being used.
For more intimate venues, historic spaces, or locations where access is difficult, I can bring my Acoustic Celtic Lever harp or Electric Lever Harp, which requires slightly less space and can be an ideal solution.
If you're unsure what will work best for your venue, I'm always happy to discuss the options when you enquire.
For most wedding ceremonies, the harp sounds beautiful when played acoustically.
However, for drinks receptions, wedding breakfasts, outdoor events, or larger spaces, amplification helps ensure the music carries clearly above background conversation. My harp is fitted with a professional pickup system, allowing me to provide a clear, elegant sound without it ever feeling intrusive.
Yes, this is one of my favourite things.
I offer a highly bespoke service, and I’m always happy to learn meaningful song requests or create harp arrangements of your favourite music. I take care to adapt each piece so it suits both the instrument and the atmosphere of your wedding day.
From classical to film music, contemporary songs to something entirely unique, I love helping couples create a soundtrack that truly reflects their story.
The harp is wonderfully versatile, and my repertoire includes over 300 pieces across a wide range of styles.
This includes:
Many couples enjoy combining timeless classical pieces with contemporary songs, creating something that feels both elegant and personal.
Yes, outdoor ceremonies and drinks receptions can be beautiful settings for harp music.
To keep the instrument safe and sounding its best, the harp must be placed on a solid, flat surface and kept in shade, away from direct sunlight. As the harp is made largely from wood, it is vulnerable to weather conditions, so unfortunately, I’m unable to perform in rain or strong winds.
In cases where rain is likely, most venues typically have an indoor backup location, as no one wants their guests to get wet!
Many couples choose harp music for:
The most popular option is the ceremony plus drinks reception, creating a seamless musical atmosphere from the moment guests arrive through the first part of the celebration. Some couples also choose to extend the music into the wedding breakfast, which provides a relaxed and elegant backdrop while guests dine. This also allows you, as the couple, more opportunity to enjoy the music yourselves, as you will often be away having photographs taken during the drinks reception.
I am based between Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, and frequently travel throughout the UK for weddings and events. Travel costs are calculated individually depending on the location, and I’m always happy to discuss this when you enquire.
Many couples book 12–18 months in advance, particularly for summer weddings and popular weekend dates.
If your wedding is sooner, please do still get in touch. Occasionally, I do have availability, especially for weekday or off-peak weddings.
Absolutely. Your wedding music should feel personal and meaningful.
I provide guidance and suggestions if you would like them, and many couples enjoy a short music consultation where we explore ideas together. You’re welcome to choose pieces from my repertoire, request new arrangements, or simply tell me the atmosphere you’d like to create.
